Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@mintpopsicles @UTorbust thanks for the info! i knew that to major in it as a regular undergrad, u need to send an application but i didn’t know how competitive it was, it is first on my application but i may have to hope for cola undeclared bc my stats aren’t very amazing, fingers crossed

Will UT tell you if you need to submit spring grades? I had more than 30 if I include AP but otherwise I only had 16 when I applied, is this something I should be concerned about?

@whlockett They will tell you. If you don’t need to, save the credits to submit for an appeal if you get denied.

@BladeX @AndywantUTAustin Hi I am also an international applicant with CS major. I was told that none of the international student has been notified yet. And we should here some thing by mid May. :frowning:

Hi! Can anyone chance me plz?
3.4 GPA applied to COLA international relations and global studies / sociology
I hope to have 3.5-3.6 by end of semester.
Strong resume (phi theta, +1000 community service)
Letter of recommendation from school counselor and English department codean and former principle. Felt like all were strong and personal.
Essay- I realized I had a grammar error but wrote about being a refugee from Africa. Thank you!

i’m new at this: are there scholarships you can apply for after your initial acceptance, at any point throughout your years at UT? it looks like i won’t be getting much financial aid and i wasn’t properly informed about scholarships until it was too late.

if anyone would like to rant about FAFSA, i would be happy to join you. i called financial aid and they told me it’s easier to get financial aid when your parents MAKE OVER 100,000 A YEAR than an independent student over 24 who makes less than 40k. I don’t get it.

@ameerica hey man, your GPA sounds kind of low, but I have heard of other with that GPA getting in no problem. if you have a compelling story in your essays, you should be fine.

Has anyone hear from Moody college of communications yet?

@kkyaya there’s decision stats a couple pages ago.

So here’s what I’m thinking. First round of acceptances had until May 1 to accept or deny their admission. Then a few days later, another round of decisions. The second round had until May 10 to accept or deny, from what I remember. So maybe we could expect another round sometime this next week, maybe around May 11-13?

@Clintonwk I hope that your theory is correct, personally I think theyre waiting for spring grades from those who had <30 hours before releasing anymore decisions

@whlockett man I hope not…I don’t want to have to wait until June!

Looks like you get another chance to try your luck after you get accepted with the “Change My Major” tab. It throws you back into review, but your acceptance to the university isn’t affected by this. Just a heads up for those who may not get into their first choice major or have a last minute change of heart. I don’t really see it changing anything for me, but I’m a gambling woman.

The multiple people who have called the school asking when they would hear an admission decision have been told mid May if you’re >30 hours. I’m getting my hopes up that it’s this upcoming week the 9th-13th, but then again mid May seems more likely to be the following week the 16th-20th.

Hey guys, my friends uncle’s sister’s friend’s mom’s aunt’s brother’s wife’s, brother in law works for UT Admissions and said we’ll all here something this month and then a few will spill into June!

Are y’all gonna go to orientation?

@liberalguy97 it’s required, no?

@Clintonwk I found out after I registered that it’s not mandatory. Oh well, at least I’ll get to register for classes earlier.

@liberalguy97 Which one are you going to?

@“Hope N Calories” I’m going to the first one. I think its June 22-23.
