Hello! I’m currently a spring transfer student and I got accepted into several schools. My top choices are currently UF, Tulane, and BU. For pharmaceutical sciences, psychology, and psychopharmacology, what school is best? I’m having trouble choosing which school because I love these equally and would love some input!!
have you visited all 3? Are all 3 affordable? Is there one that would be less expensive than the others? If I loved 3 schools equally, I would narrow it down to how much I like the campus/town and cost.
Since I start in Spring 2025, I have not had time to visit all of them, unfortunately. As for costs, UF is the most affordable and Tulane gave me a scholarship, making it affordable as well. I am still in the process of working on a financial package for BU, but they have been hard to reach. I love the feel of a campus, but since I’ve lived in NYC all my life, an urban campus like BU’s is not a problem!
BU is urban. Tulane is in the big city but has a campus but it’s a ride away from the ‘action’ so it’s not there like BU.
UF is a huge flagship.
They are three very different schools.
So you have enough saved for grad school ? It will be expensive.
Otherwise if you do, these are vastly different schools.
So which environment do you favor ?
Where are you transferring from and why? That might help with suggestions for you. Are you living on or off campus? I have much more familiarity with UF and Tulane and am happy to help.
Thank you! I’m transferring from Binghamton University because I was not a fan of its pharmacy program and I am looking for research opportunities and a pharmacy program that favors pharmacology. On a less serious note, I wanted to be better challenged, wanted something more well-known, and not as cold (lol). Boston University is pretty much off the table now because it was not able to meet my financial needs so I am pretty much between Tulane and UF now. I am hoping to live on campus, but if there is not enough space, I am open to living in an apartment off-campus (as long as it is close to campus). Thanks again for your help!
I think (you should double check this) that the pharmacy program at Tulane is housed in the school of medicine, which is a little ways away from the rest of campus (look on a map for the uptown campus and the med school). UF’s pharmacy/pharmacology was (and I assume still is) housed in Shands (the hospital) at UF.
I definitely think Tulane is a great choice. It has amazing medical field programs and they run a shuttle between their 2 campuses (and it’s not far at all). They also have housing available for transfer students. They were founded as a medical school and the school of tropical medicine is a high asset! If you got a scholarship that makes it affordable that is where I would say to go.
