Hey everybody! I’m writing this discussion because I currently attend Champlain College in Burlington VT, which has around 2,000 student and is in a small city. I really like my school, but there are things that aren’t working there and I’ve decided that I need more. I was originally looking into schools with around 7,000-12,000 students but the University of South Carolina caught my eye. Unfortunately their numbers are closer to 25,000 students. Which is probably more than my entire hometown in Massachusetts. I’m a public relations major and I’m involved with everything leadership on campus. My school is so small that I know everyone and I only just finished my freshman year. This means however that I rose very quickly into the ranks of “student leader” on campus. I have bosses who love me and its hard to leave but I know its for the best. What I’m trying to get to here is that with UofSC being so large will I ever find my place? My mindset is very oriented towards my small school and if I go someplace huge I’m afraid I will have just given up an amazing reputation for being unknown at another school. I’m planning to transfer in the spring of my sophomore year (Spring 2016) which is already a difficult time to transfer and what with my planning to study abroad junior year, it will make my time on campus so much smaller. What I want to know, for those of you that either go to UofSC or transferred there is if it’s worth it. Not because you love your school but because transfer outreach rocks and the campus is scary at first but okay after. I need to know to make my decision. Thanks so much!!
