I noticed something odd about it. I think it might be a little messed up. The average family award for a family making 80k-100k is $39,808. Okay, but the average award for a family making 100k-125k is $41,691. And for a family making 125k-150k the average award is $42,093. This is for a family size of four. I think that they mixed it up and that the average award for a family making between 80k-100k is $42,093. Any thoughts?

Obviously you should ask the FA office.

The figures are based upon actual awards. I believe the odd way they fall out can be equated to variables that have been added into the equation.

@Rellielou,
Yeah, but it doesn’t make any sense that a family making 125k-150k gets more FA than a family making 80k-100k. Obviously, there are different situations. But, if both families have four people, the one making 80k-100k should get more FA. My parents said that they could afford SPS if we got $42,000, but not if we got $39,000 so I’m a little worried.

@ifax108 I’m in the same boat you are…my parents can only pay for the tiniest amount of tuition (and ideally would like a full scholarship) but according to the estimator we have to pay the smallest bit more than we can. Frustrating and depressing - yeah I’m worried.

Remember that those are only estimates, averages. It is great that you are in the ballpark, but a few thousand dollars won’t come out in averages. Don’t let this keep you from applying. Admissions will take your family context into account.
