SRAR Senior year

What happens if on the SRAR I had a high GPA, but after senior year it goes down by 0.5 or something? It says you don’t have to send the official final transcript until after graduation and senior year grades are finalized. But when I applied my GPA was higher 3.5 it’ll prob go down to a 3.0 or 3.2 so will I be revoked or?

Basically what I’m asking is when applying on the SRAR your gpa is high but when you graduate it dips will they revoke admissions?

Bump - someone please answer I wanna make sure I won’t be revoked it my gpa gets lower by the end of senior year even though it was high on the srar.

@Tylerhex How much has your overall GPA changed? It you applied with a 3.5 - that is overall for 4 years of HS and it will drop to a 3.0 or 3.2 - what are your senior year grades? This is the first year that Penn State is using the SRAR - so no one really knows how the process will go.

It looks like you’ve asked this question before:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/penn-state-university-park/2073706-srar.html#latest

I think the answers will be the same as on that thread.

But on another thread, you said this:
Accepted! Got into University Park for PS.
SAT: 1230
GPA: 2.9
EC: One club
Recommendations: Good
APs: 4 total
Summer Session: Yes

… are you sure your information on the SRAR is correct? Did you have a 2.9 or a 3.5 ?

I had a 3.5 but am failing a class so it’ll prob go down to a 3.2-3.0 is my guess. The class is an AP and I kinda gave up since I heard penn state doesn’t care if you fail a class your senior year, as long if you graduate you’re good.

So where did that 2.9 from the other thread come from?

One failed grade will probably only lower your GPA by ~0.15. If you had a 3.5, you may now only have about a 3.3-ish…assuming you took about 25 classes over four years. Did your other grades drop as well? Hopefully they won’t rescind the offer. I haven’t heard of them doing it, but this entire SRAR thing is new.

Yeah I’m failing an AP right now and have C’s and B-'s in my other classes. I’m only doing four classes this semester.

Is the 2.9 from the results thread not what you actually have? That would be very misleading to future applicants.

When I applied I had a 3.5, but I figured it’d dropped to a 2.9ish so I just put that. I’ll try to edit the response if possible or just delete the comment.

Penn State typically does not rescind offers unless you no longer meet the requirements for the major for which you applied. IN GENERAL, all they care about is that you graduated. They don’t consider senior year grades at all and I think that means good grades OR bad grades. However, if you fail a class (say a calc class) your senior year that was needed for your admission to a specific major (such as engineering), then yes, they can rescind the offer. So if you are failing an AP class that was needed, then you are likely in trouble. If not, then “probably” not (no one can tell you for absolutely sure - we can only tell you based on previous years).

The 2.9 comment is definitely misleading because it is almost unheard of for a non athlete, non recruited student to get into UP with a 2.9. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but it’s really unusual when it does.

If the student applied with a 3.5 then that’s what should appear in the result thread and should be corrected.
A D or F in a class needed for a major (mwould result in being rescinded.
Study for the placement test, too, or you’ll be stuck in remedial math for semesters.
