<p>as in… “I’ve never seen that movie before” or “I would not have seen that movie if you hadn’t recommended it.”</p>
<p>Yea, the phrase “would have” makes the difference. Without it, the sentence would be “The innovators never saw it coming.”</p>
<p>If you’re cleaning it up, somebody who’s really, really picky might object to the split verb form. It’s easy to fix anyway:</p>
<p>would never have seen it </p>
<p>or </p>
<p>never would have seen it</p>
<p>takes care of it</p>
