What is the turn around time of SSAT? Do they forward documents to school as they come in, or wait until everything is in and forward it once?

Are you happy with the service overall?

Are you happy with the service overall?

For the October test, the turnaround time was very quick…quicker than for the SAT, that’s for sure. And, it was faster than the guideline they posted on their own site…about 2 weeks later. And this is for the normal service, not the extra-cost expedited service.

I don’t expect any of these organizations to be Zappos, as they pretty much have a monopoly. But I will say that the SSAT people were nice and helpful when I called with questions. We waited to see results before forwarding to schools using their online request feature.

NOTE: We have not used the SSAT site for applications…just the testing/reporting part.

My son used the service last year and my daughter will this year. I don’t remember there being any problem at all with promptness of documents. I believe they scan everything and the schools receive an electronic app. They post things as receive as they come in.

neato, good to see you kicking again this year. I have a year off. Just helping others here.

I called SSAT this morning, they told me it is about a week turn around time, which I think is pretty slow. One thing I learned is that if the teachers fax over their letters, everything will be stored as electronic. Paper letters need to be scanned by people, actually takes longer.

I dunno, FayMom. I’ll bet the schools take at least a week after their due dates just to get all the files together.

I originally thought the SSAT Standard App. would make this process easier. However, unless you have to use it (school only accepts SSAT App.) I would not. There are 5 essay type questions on the SSAT Standard App. and then most schools add a “supplemental” essay question (usually the one that appears on their own app.) So why do I want to do 5 additional essays? Think most people will find the school’s own app less complicated. If you are applying to more than 6 schools, then it might make some sense, since you will be doing 6 essays anyway.

Faymom - Why is a faxed letter not a paper letter. Fax or mail, they still receive a piece of paper.

Madaket, it’s a digital fax. I can receive faxes through my phone that go directly to my computer without ever being printed out.

I just find out that SSAT no longer accepts FAX, they only take mail and EMAIL. As for recommendation forms, scan to PDF and email it to apply@ssat.org.
