SSAT at home full technical failure+4 hours w tech support (!)

My kid and I had a horrible experience with our scheduled at-home SSAT: the PSI’s software had a glitch that none of their tech support could fix despite nearly FOUR HOURS of back & forth and escalation through tech supervisors etc.

The problem seems ridiculous: we were unable to get to the actual test after the proctor scanned the room because we couldnt leave the chat with proctor - the “X”/Close button on the chat was inactive. All of the tech people and proctors kept insisting this is the only way to move to the exam flow.

Did anyone experience anything similar? And did you find a solution?
So profoundly upset about this experience with SSAT/ PSI .

I took the TOEFL test for english proficiency, also at home iBT version. The proctor application just wouldn’t download and took 2 hours. Eventually, I didn’t even take the test, contacted ETS and they informed me that I have to purchase again, and they won’t guarantee the problem will solve even if I take it the second time. So instead, Im taking Duolingo

My child took the SSAT at home earlier this month and had a similar technical issue. It was after half an hour into the test time that I was notified that he hadn’t start the test yet. But fortunately he was able to fix it with the proctor after about an hour and the test went very well. You can request a free rescheduling with PSI and hope it will be OK next time.
