SSAT Important Question

I recently received my SSAT Scores and I am not happy with the math scores. It shows that I made a mistake on many of the geometry problems. I skipped geometry this year because I was put in an advanced class focused on Trig. Should I tell the admissions counselors this?

The schools received your transcript. They know what classes you’re taking. Relax.

But on my transcript it only says Math 9H…

Im just very nervous, I did very poorly on the math section which I thought would be the easiest.

First, you are not alone in having difficulty with the SSAT math section . . . many people do.

As for whether you should provide additional information to the admissions offices, I just don’t know. Between your transcript and the information provided by your current math teacher, I would think that would be enough. But I honestly can’t say for sure.

The SSAT score does not determine whether you will be admitted - it is just one of several factors to be considered, and it is often said to be the least important of those.

But, if this is worrying you and you want to communicate something, I would keep it brief and to the point. In other words, something along the lines of: “Please note that I am currently taking [math class x] instead of [math class y] and am scheduled to take [math class y] next year.” No whining about the test results or attempting to explain them.

But, since it’s only Saturday, and the offices will not open again for another two days, I would wait and see what others have to say. Perhaps someone else is more familiar with this situation than I am.

Bumpppppppppppppppppp
