<p>In your mind, is it better to extensively prepare (using workbooks and other resources) for the SSAT to try to get the best score possible whether or not you know the information, or to blindly go into it unprepared and see how much you REALLY know?</p>

<p>If you’re a top student in a good school, you probably do not have to prepare extensively for it. However, it will help anyone to do a bunch of the practice tests and also to learn when to guess at an answer and when NOT to guess. Our son chose to take the Lower Level SSAT last January just to have some experience taking the real test too. He thinks it probably helped some, at least to mitigate his nervousness a bit in the real thing.</p>

<p>It will always help to be prepared at least a bit. You might not need to study extensively, but at least buying the book (maybe trying a practice test and flipping through the tips) helps raise your score.</p>
<p>Studying from the SSAT prep book raises how much you ‘really’ know. So actually, studying won’t hurt anything.</p>
