Hi, I have just seen my results for the SSAT and am quite satisfied with my score. There is one thing that I am worried about in my writing sample, though. First of all, as a semi-perfectionist, I write quite poorly in timed settings, although I love writing outside of test/exam environments; hence, my essay probably is not of the best quality. I did hear, though, that AOs take this limited time into consideration, so I am not as worried about this.
However, my question is this: as I wrote my writing sample, I ran out of time and didn’t get to finish my last sentence. Frankly, the last sentence I wrote was about a controversial topic that would only make sense (and seem logical & thoughtful) with elaboration. More specifically, it was something about how even the worst murderers shouldn’t get death penalties (something along those lines), and I know it seems weird, and that’s why I had to write about it more…
Should I consider retaking the SSAT for this writing sample or do you think they’ll understand? I did hear that writing samples are one of the most important things AOs look at, and I don’t want them to get a bad impression of my thought process or think my application essays were written by someone else.
Thank you!
Hey.
So that is actually a really important point. IMO, if you really think your scores are great, and that your writing made sense, at least for the most part, then go ahead and send in your SSAT. I also felt a bit iffy about my writing sample, but went ahead and submitted it anyways. Make the best decision for you! Best of Luck!!
