I was wondering if the schools would expect me to write in American english for the SSAT essay or if I could get by with Australian english? I plan on editing the admissions essay 3,000 times so I don’t leave any stupid mistakes in it. Obviously I can’t do this as there isn’t enough time for the SSAT. What should I do?

You will be fine with Australian english, I believe. Slang is different in both languages, however they expect you to use neither American slang nor Australian slang. In proper grammatical sense, I believe they are quite similar. The spellings are different, of course, but you can make a note on that. It would be impossible for you to relearn spellings you have known for years on end.

I think you will be fine for you admission essay in your native dialect as well. Don’t compromise on the quality of the essay for the few words etc.

Correct me if I am wrong on any of the above.
