St. Andrew's DE application question?

On the St. Andrew’s application, one of the questions is “What are you most concerned about?”
I know it sounds pretty straightforward but I’m kind of confused about what they are asking here. Are they looking for something like: “I’m concerned about the penguins because they’re losing their homes!” or something like: “I’m concerned about letting myself down!” or something like: “I’m concerned about not having a job.” Any other interpretations? I’m just wondering how everyone interpreted this question because I don’t want to give an answer that’s totally outrageous and not what they were looking for at all. Thanks so much!!!

I’ll take a stab at this, since your question has gone unanswered.

I agree it’s a very open question. The meaning of ‘concern’ can range from ‘worry/anxiety’ to ‘interest/passion.’ But I would just reassure you that there is no wrong interpretation or answer.

As with all interview and essay questions, it is an opportunity to let the adcom get to know who you are and what is important to you. Whatever interpretation you chose to make (however the question resonates with you) is perfectly reasonable. Answer openly and honestly, and share some of what you care about in the world. It is probably most important that the content of your response really matters to you, and that you can convey why it is important.

Good luck!
