St. John's College vs Dartmouth

Student Applying To Colleges
3 Details
-Will Surely Get Into Both, so don’t bother with that.
-I am intending to study the Literature (The Classics)
-Is the Ivy League name more important that St. John’s “Great Books” curriculum?

“will surely get into both.”

If you really want the stats, I’ll give them, but I would be wasting your time and my time. haha

You might as well write Dartmouth a letter saying…

“I’m not applying because I am going to get in. If you want my stats, I could send them, but it’s a waste of time. I start my classes next week.”

That’s the vibe I’m getting. No one will answer your question.

You might as well campaign to become president, as that probably seems feasible in your eyes.

I wrote this post so that I could get an opinion on whether the Dartmouth Literature and English Department would provide a comparable program to the “Great Books Program” at St. John’s College (it is actually a fascinating program) and if not is the Ivy League name that important?

Stats:
4.0 UW
4.8+ W
2300+ SAt
60 Credits of dual-enrollemtn credit (all As)
Class President
Valedictorian
Debate Captain
Etc… Lots of stuff

Took a year off to volunteer for the Church, so applying later this year.

Lol. I hope for your sake they don’t care about personality when making admission decisions at Dartmouth.

Dartmouth: Reach
St. John’s: Safety

Pay attention to Dartmouth’s distribution requirements; if you want something similar to St. John’s College you can always apply to Columbia…

The only reason I posted “Will surely get in” is because, I wanted the focus to be on the curriculum of St. John’s program Vs. Dartmouth’s English Dept. and not on whether or not I could actually get in. I have a splendid personality and I am not being egotistical.

Thank you very much, Catria. I will keep that in mind.

What made Columbia not fit you?

The fast life of the city really isn’t for me. I might apply if you think it is a good fit. I actually have a recommendation from a former chair of the English dept. about an essay of mine. I live in NYC.

“I have a splendid personality”
Nope. Not egotistical at all;).

Well thanks for the feedback, I probably won’t be on a computer for the next 6 months in the part of Spain where I’m going to be. haha. Churches hate technology.
