St. Olaf has made its admission announcements for the class of 2028. Opening up a thread for anyone interested.
My daughter was accepted EA. Still waiting on some RD decisions to come in to make a final choice.
What are her top few choices at this point?
same here. DS has EA acceptances from UGA and St. Olaf, but he’s still waiting on a bunch of RD schools. FA is very good at St. Olaf, he visited last spring and liked it a lot, and he can do a music performance major there, which is how he’s leaning at the moment (he’d also do that at UGA; most of his RD schools don’t offer performance degrees). So we’ll see! Hoping to get back and do another visit and maybe an in-person music lesson at some point.
Top choices are probably Hamilton, Bates, and Smith (all of which we are waiting on). However, we visited St. Olaf last month and I think she was surprised how much she liked it.
Does your student have any faves, or have they committed?
FA was excellent for us at St. Olaf!
My daughter also accepted, I’d love for her to attend, I’m an alum so am biased! Also waiting for some “prestige” schools she applied to RD.
Anyone attending an admitted student day? We are planning to go 3/15.
I’m waiting for D24 to give me a thumbs up or down. We just visited last month, so I’m not sure she will do it.
We are visiting St. Olaf with D23 as a transfer app from Hamilton- which didn’t end up being a good fit lol.
A comparative report will be very interesting. Thank you.
Interesting … I’ll be interested to hear how she likes St Olaf then.
Her reasons for not liking Hamilton were social and related to dance.
Very much a contender for DD. Have visited, and really liked it, but couldn’t make the admitted student day. We’d be very interested to hear about how the admitted student day went/impressions. Also welcome insights about social life, especially given the dry campus.
What was the verdict?
She is going to be an Ole!
Can you explain your decision process (very useful for other applicants)
LOL - she liked it, but the transfer app process is brutal and the other 3 she applied to were reaches she didn’t get into. Fairly certain she would have gotten into one of them regular admission. considering her regular admission results last year included several 10-12% acceptance rate schools.
I suppose that’s a way of saying StOlaf is a solid substitute if you’re aiming for sub 15-20% LACs. Congratulations
