When will the contracts for returning students be mailed? I expected something prior to March 10th.

I was told: “I believe returning students contracts will be mailed late next week. They are due back April 16th.” I don’t recall the timing for returning students last year.

I will dearly miss Bill & Marcia Matthews. I have known them for 44 years. They are so warm and caring. Luckily we have until June 2011 to find a replacement. It won’t be easy, but there is a great search committee and they will be looking for input and suggestions. As you may know he graduated in 1961 and has worked at SPS since 1966, as a Hockey, Coach, Latin teacher, Admissions Director, Vice Rector for Students and as Rector.

Yesterday I posted the following to another thread. It properly belongs here. The admonition and plea applies to all schools and all the teens posting here. It was an email to the Sixth Formers regarding college admissions. You can easily replace ‘college’ with ‘boarding schools’. With results coming next Wednesday, I hope we can all abide by this type of philosophy:

This was the same thing I tried to say in post #1909 last week. Be sensitive, help each other, support each other.

This is a link for student journals, I hope.

Anyone know how long the waitlist is? And what I can do to get off the waitlist?

Bama, sorry I do not. If I hear anything helpful, I will post it. Keep your chin up (if you can), many many more received rejections than were waitlisted. I know that does not make you feel much better, but it should just a little.

The stats provided this morning by St. Paul’s were:
**ADMITTED PROFILE 2010-11

Total Students 185: Total Boys 99, Total Girls 86

Total III Form 133: III Form Boys 65, III Form Girls 67

Total IV Form 45: IV Form Boys 27, IV Form Girls 17

Total V Form 10: V Form Boys 7, V Form Girls 2

Total Applications 1305
Admit Rate 14%

Geography: States 29, Countries 14

Academic Backgrounds: Private 103/55%, Public 85/45%

Diversity: Total Diversity 63/34%, International Students 30/16%
**

Wow! That’s about 30% more applications than when my child applied 3 years ago!

bamagirl - Let them know you are definitely interested. If you have new grades, awards, news, don’t be shy about updating the admissions office.

The following have been accepted by St. Paul’s (5): KCcansps15, doschicos’ son, JasmineLicie, Comus’ daughter, kentschoolie

**If you able, reach out to the accepted and waitlisted students and offer to help them in any way possible.
The revisit days are April 1st, 6th, 9th. **

The slightly corrected stats are:

The following are on the waitlist (13): alelu (w), bamagirl95(w), BlueRaven1(w), hijklm(w), HopefullAtHill(w), Jen55’s daughter(w), jyun212(w), lindha(w), maggie2(w), nerdgeekdork(w), pa.pa(w), quiltingbee(w), shelms(w).

Why the discrepancy in boys vs. girls numbers for this class?

Total IV Form 44: IV Form Boys 27; IV Form Girls 17

SPS overenrolled for 3rd form girls last year big time. So, they took a lot less this year to even things out.

they probably over accepted last year or something. They probably had to balance them.

My son is here on vacation and fears the “sausage-fest” he says:)

Nope - the class will be split pretty much 50/50 boys and girls. Tell him he just got lucky this past year with a lot more girls than boys in his class. :)

ADJUSTED

bumping for anyone else?

,ADJUSTED
The following have been accepted by St. Paul’s (6): KCcansps15, doschicos’ son, JasmineLicie, Comus’ daughter, kentschoolie, sunflowersuzie.

The following are on the waitlist (15): alelu (w), bamagirl95(w), BlueRaven1(w), dadslearning son (w), hijklm(w), HopefullAtHill(w), Jen55’s daughter(w), jyun212(w), lindha(w), maggie2(w), nerdgeekdork(w), pa.pa(w), quiltingbee(w), shelms(w).

It sounds like sunflowersuzie wants Andover. So maybe one on and off the list.

And yes last year the 3rd form had 11 more girls than boys, so depending on yields, the +10 boys in the 4th form could get it back to parity. But you just never know who will or won’t accept an offer. Clearly everyone should  but there are always a few lost souls.

I received an email telling me that a boy in Atlanta was admitted, but he has not yet found his way to this site.

As you have probably gathered, the 14% acceptance rate may make SPS the most difficult to get into this year. And keep in mind that that is also lower than the average of the Ivy’s, Duke, MIT, etc. Pretty amazing and scary. Great job and keep your fingers crossed on the waitlist.

There will probably be 1 more admit apiece from a Japanese school, a German school and a French school that SPS has exchange relationships with. That has not yet happened, but would up the numbers by three if it does.

sps was the only school to waitlist me…

jyun212. I saw that and am sorry that is ruined your string of great results. But you can see by the numbers it is crazy this year. Also remember that SPS is only 1/2 the size of Exeter or Andover, so it will always accept fewer. And congrats on those two!! Generally the overlap is less than overlap between A & E, so it washes a bit.

yeah ik… o well. i still got some great schoools to choose from. my mom told me to be happy on the waiting list 0.0
