St. Paul's School Concord NH

What is St. Paul’s most known for? (Academics, athletics, the arts, it doesn’t matter) What are their “strong” departments?

From my perspective as an applicant a few months ago I would say exceptionally strong Humanities program, and great the the arts (dance, theatre…etc). If you had to pick 1-2 things, I would say that is it. Of course they’re great at many other things.

I know that SPS has a great dance and music program… : o )

Thank you to mpicz and DiveAlive for your answers  Would you say SPS is a good “well-rounded” school?

Is SPS rather “weak” in any areas? What about athletics? Are their math/science programs strong, as well?

Everything’s pretty strong in general (they don’t have a big pretty science building like Deerfield and Exeter, but they’re building one), and athletics aren’t amazing or anything though. Depends on what you do.

EDIT: I saw that your sports are soccer and tennis, and you dance also. SPS is pretty strong in these specific areas (judging by W/L records).

SPS… doesn’t have diving/swimming as sports. D: I think that their football team isn’t very good, either. But if you dance, then SPS is the way to go! (Unless you’re into Walnut Hill and Interlochen and Idyllwild etc etc)

Well if dance is your life, you should only be applying to the schools Divealive posted.

I also swim, but I heard that even though they don’t have swimming as a sport (why?), they have a pool. I think.

I dance, but it’s not my main focus at all :)

SPS sounds like a great school, I’ll probably apply there!

Yeah, they have a pool. No idea if they have diving boards, but I heard rumors that a swim team was to be started (never happened). Apparently, they also have national-level divers but no dive team… hmm. I heard that there was a drowning in the SPS pool, maybe that had something to do with it? Of course, this is just random blabbing, and maybe they just don’t see the point in a swim team. xD Regardless, SPS is definitely a great school. : D

yes, a boy died in the pool shortly after its construction he was having a contest with his friends to see who could hold their breathe the longest. It was huge news for a while and was a horrible thing…
sps is a smaller school compared to others. it would be cool to have a swim team, but it would impact the number of athletes playing other sports. there is no simple solution! right now it is just being used for recreational use (public swim times and during themed dances)

boarderkid definitely look into sps. their dance program is really top notch. and as far as sciene goes, they have two famous telescopes on campus for astronomy. sps is an all around a fabulous school!

They have recently been admitting numerous California kids with extensive knowledge of CPR via their California Junior Lifeguards experience…go figure.

Oh, that’s awful :(

MilkandCookies, I will definitely look into SPS :]

I may be taking a CPR course this summer, so that may help me!

i got my classes yesterday in the mail. I’m happy. How about everyone else?

Milk&Cookies: Did it include your schedule or just the classes you are assigned to? Can you view this information online also?

I was joking:)

I learned today that if you need to ship items more than a day or two in advance, you can send it to the storage company that the student’s at St.Paul’s use for a fee.

Hmm I haven’t received any classes or anything, maybe I should check the mail.

Nevermind I got it too, my parents opened it and took it to their room. I hate when they open stuff that clearly has my name on it.

no, i didn’t get my schedule, just a list of the classes I’m taking. it said schedules come much later.
I looked for it online but I d1dnt see it. im not sure if its there but it might be…

my parents and I are taking about the E&R laundry service. is anyone getting it? My dad said at his BS time was precious and having to do your own laundry was a pain, but my mom hates the price. are there students/ parents that have any insight? is it really helpful or sort of a waste?

haha same ^^ mpicz
