No great surprise, “Sailor” just got her way. Classes have been cancelled for today.

Good and considerate question Neato. For them it is even worse. Those that live in apartments in dorms with generators are fine (15 of 18). But most live in houses on (or near) campus, for them it is fireplaces and camping-out or move in with a fellow faculty member or friend. It is even worse on the coast.

As parents have seen:
9:31:01 AM Eastern Standard Time
Dear Parents,
Good news! Our power is back. Because of yesterday’s disruption, I decided to cancel classes this morning. Your children are enjoying the rest and a leisurely brunch this morning. Things are back to normal in Millville.
Sincerely,
Bill Matthews

I don’t like the rumor going around that school will be let out on Tuesday for vacation if the weather doesn’t improve. Plane flights out of Boston will not be easy to move around with short notice and bad weather.

Sarum: Ignore it. Just an evil rumor designed to stress us out. Just go click the humorous links I posted, it will help. the rumor probably started when people were concerned that power would not come back, and the weather would be too cold. Now it has, and so will the assessments.

32 People Applying to SPS this year (to my knowledge):
2010hopeful, A7Xforever=), Alelu, Alex2825, Bamagirl95, Blueraven1, Candidate123, cantelopemelon, Closchicos, Crossyourfingers, Cutiedida, HockeyJosh14, Hoping411, Jediluca, Jen55, JordanPIH, Jyun212, Kraordrawoh, Lax4545, lindha, Mainer95, Mmmh, mo1258, Neatoburrito, Prepschoolseeker, Rad-in-, laid96, SocalDiver, TKD, Urbanflop, Wickedcrazy, xxDaisyxx

Okay my apologies Urban, but when I post this list on the “SPS” thread, you said “Well you forgot me, urbanflop…” So the corrected list of people applying to SPS , pending corrections, is:

BlueRaven: As a community service. I know based on the past two years what happens as we get close and past that terrifying date. All of you will (or may) want to celebrate or commiserate. What I REALLY hope is that those who get in will be sensitive and supportive of those who do not. Done properly, you can all support each other. I hope you can remember that and attempt to do it.

This is what a community is about. Learn it now and it will serve you well if you end up at St. Paul’s. Make any sense or is this too weird? You asked, and it is a great question.

Though SPS is my first choice overall, i am not sure how my d feels. She is the type of kid that rather wait and see what happens instead of second guessing.

That makes perfect sense. If I don’t get in anywhere I’m not sure if I’m strong enough to continue on CC, I don’tthink I’d be able to bear reading people talk about packing and bubbling with excitement prehaps that’s selfish and I should be glad for them. I probably will but I don’t want to hang around for it. If I am lucky enough to get in, I’ll try and hold down my excitement enough to be sensitive and imagine what they’re going through. It’ll be easier if I can refrence the list and know who is who.
I hope I get into SPS although I very much doubt it, although my app is quite strong one of my essays was literally writen from 11:30pm-11:50pm on January 15th and it was my first interview so I was very nervous and stuffed up

I really don’t want to apply next year for junior year. I hear it is like impossible to get in. I would apply for a repeat sophomore but I would be like 17 at the start of my second sophomore year. That would just be weird hanging around younger people. So basically, if I don’t get in this year, I don’t know what I am going to do…

I should have applied first in 8th grade. I don’t know why I didn’t.

BlueRaven1, I’m confident that you’ll get in somewhere. From your posts, I conclude that you’re an intelligent and mature person. You’ve been a lovely presence on this board.

Ah jeez did I miss the memo? Is it “compliment BlueRaven1 Day” Thanks Assign, I’m sure you’ll do well too. I’m not just saying it, it’s the truth. I really hope everyone on here gets a place somewhere even if I don’t like them overly much. Conversing with everyone here has actually given me a social life :p… I like to think I’m fairly intelligent but I don’t know about mature, I can be rather iresponsible. Anyway, as a thank you gift Assign, I’ve dedicated my 1,000 post to you.

BlueRaven1 and everyone, watch this video ([YouTube - Miss Teen USA 2007 - South Carolina answers a question](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww)) and you’ll realize that you’re exceptionally intelligent.
As a thank you gift for your thank, BlueRaven1, I’ve dedicated my #295 post to you. Doesn’t sound half as good as #1000 post, but hey, it’s from my heart to yours .

Can you summarise that for me? My sound isn’t working, I guess she says something stupid. Don’t worry Assign I appreciate the sentiment, warms the cockles of my heart it does.

Yeah your guess is right. Here’s the question: Recent polls have shown a fifth of American can’t locate the US on a world map. Why do you think this is? Here’s a video with subtitles to her answer: [YouTube - Miss Teen USA South Carolina 2007 with Subtitles](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WALIARHHLII)

I feel like a genius now… That was sad although the going around in circles sounds like my muddled response to SPS interview questions. You lose track of what you’re saying and then panic. Still I worry for the next gen. Are you in the US assign? I seem to remember you arent.

No I’m international. During my Choate interview, I wasn’t even sure that the interviewer was listening to me. Also, I’m not the kind of person who answers questions directly. I tend to ramble around and provide background information to my answer and stuff and lose track of what I’m saying and ramble again.
