St.Paul's Supplementary Materials

So I received an email from the music head at St.Paul’s saying how he wanted supplementary materials. I already sent him the links to my solo, however he said that he wanted a scale for the range of my instrument. This may sound a little dumb, but I want to make sure I am recording the correct thing. Because the scale needs to be for the range of my instrument(piano) does that mean that I have to play(for example) a C scale from the lowest C on the piano to the highest C?

Let me see if I am reading this correctly…he wanted the range scale for…a piano?

I would ask for clarification because that makes like NO sense. If you played violin, sure. He’d want to see if you can play in tune in all positions. If you want to be snarky, find the most out of tune piano you can (try the band room - ha!) and record a c major scale in contrary motion…in triplets.

@confused

If you have already submitted your music, don’t worry. We got the same email, which I felt was intended to be a generic reminder for those had yet to submit their music. The way I read it was, if anyone hadn’t had a time to prepare a well-practiced piece of music, s/he can still submit music just by playing a scale recorded with a cell phone. This is as casual and easy as it could get, so by encouraging music submission, I believe he was trying to gauge if applicants would be good enough for school orchestra and other music programs.

Thank you all! I was just a bit confused. I guess I forgot this was a generic email for students who play all types of instruments.
