Stabbing in the neighborhood

Two days ago, there was a stabbing two streets away from me. No one was killed (random act of violence) but the suspect is still out there. I live in a very safe subdivision and a safe city so it’s extremely shocking and disturbing for something like this to happen so randomly. Anyone with similar experiences? I can’t help but worry about my fellow family members and children in the neighborhood.

We had a random killing in our area back a few years ago. When the killer was found, he was asked why he picked the house he ended up killing person–the bad guy said because it was the house with least lighting at night. Turn on your outside lights!

Another time we had a serial killer terrorizing town–he killed about 5 people at their homes. The local sheriff suggested, among other things, that folks get small dogs that yapped a lot to help warn residents if creeps are in your yard. Get some small yapping dogs, lock your doors, and keep your ears and eyes open!

About ten years ago, the mother of one of Ds friends was stabbed to death in her own home, after dropping her daughter off at music lessons before school. When she didn’t return to pick her daughter up, ( which was ultra unusual), the teacher took the girl home, but on finding signs of forced entry, called a neighbor or the police first I can’t remember which.
Very tragic, kind of woman who was very generous with her time and money.
Very nice neighborhood, but also some what close to park & salt water beaches which attract homeless some of whom may be mentally ill.
No one has ever been charged.

About 10 years ago, a realtor was stabbed to death in a house just a few blocks from our place. It was definitely shocking, but I was not particularly worried about the safety of my family because it was obviously a targeted murder. The killer has never been caught…

Good point about lights - invest in LED lightbulbs and keep them on at night.
