stafford loans for US students at McGill

Does anyone know whether Stafford Loans are available to US students studying abroad, ie Mcgill and I dont mean just for a year abroad but for all four years? Havent heard back from financial aid from Mcgill. Not expecting much but loan would help.

thanks

Yes, both Stafford loans and Parent PLus loans are available for US Students at McGill. The lower rate Perkins loans and Pell grants, unfortunately, are not able to be used outside the US.

The Univeristy uses guarantor agencies instead of direct lenders (they ofter use American Student Assistance as the guarantor) , who will then, in turn, work with the US bank you select to service your loan.

Keep trying to contact the scholorships and student aid office, and look on the website at [Scholarships and Student Aid](Scholarships and Student Aid - McGill University) . There will be a little back and forth determining that your selected bank will loan to a Canadian Univerisity, but the whole process is pretty easy ad McGill is very helpful about walking you through the procedure.
