Stage Management Major

What colleges offer a stage management major?

I can’t speak to this but do recall someone who posted on this topic …have you tried a search?

I know a student at Webster university majoring in it. Ithaca offers it as well as Syracuse. There were people interested in stage management in our tour group for those two schools. Many schools that offer BFAs in theatre have them.

NYU - Tisch offers it. (It’s under their design and production major)

James Madison University in VA offers the opportunity to focus in Stage Management as part of the Design & Technology Track.

Penn State University in PA – University Park

UNC in NC – Greensboro

Among others…

The strongest undergraduate stage managers I have had the opportunity to work with were from the above three schools, as well as Western Kentucky University, and Plymouth State University.

This does not mean these are the “best” programs… more that strong training can be found at many institutions that offer talented, motivated students lots of opportunities and mentorship.

Good luck in your search!

Fordham has a stage management concentration in their design & production track: [Design and Production Major](http://www.fordham.edu/academics/programs_at_fordham_/theatre_department/prospective_students/training__curriculum/_design_and_producti/)

Most schools with theater majors offer a stage management concentration. Most BFA programs offer majors in stage management. This forum provides many lists of good BA and BFA theater programs, and you might give these schools a quick look. Keep in mind that majors in management are much less competitive than acting.

Search is your friend. I don’t get into specific programs, but I can cover most of the rest.
