I thought the African American girl (the one at the very beginning/ forgot her name!) was one of the most amazing singers I had ever heard! WOW!

Ross…you are talking of a DIFFERENT movie called CAMP which was written and directed by Todd Graff (a professional actor), an alumni of Stagedoor Manor and is a fictional movie loosely based on his experiencs attending this program.

Here we are talking of a documentary film, which was filmed second session of summer of 2003 at Stagedoor Manor and the film is called Stagedoor. It was filmed by Alexandra Shiva (a filmmaker). It was filmed during the REAL camp, not just AT the camp like the CAMP movie was filmed. This film is a look at the real life of Stagedoor Manor. It was recently shown at at least one film festival. I know my D had filmmakers following her 24/7 for three weeks for this. She was not the main person in the film but apparently is in some scenes according to the filmmaker. We have not seen it.

We have seen CAMP, the movie, many times. Yes, the singing was great in that film. The actors are hired actors, not from SDM, though we know a couple kids who have very small roles/appearances in that film. In all honesty, the film CAMP is NOT what it is like to attend SDM. Many of the themes in it and so forth are not like the real camp. The backdrop, however ,IS the real camp as it was filmed at SDM when the kids left that particular summer. Be aware, there is NO LAKE at camp like in that movie and boys do not go in girls rooms like in THAT movie. And there is no backstabbing as in that movie. I could go on but you get my drift.

I hope some day to get to view Stagedoor, the documentary film , first cause it is a glimpse of this program, and second cause my child appears in it so it would be nice to see and she wants to see it .

Anyway you can track down the filmmaker and get a copy? It looks like (if I read it correctly ) it was shown on one internet site in March. It would seem they would show it again somewhere. Very exciting for your daughter, it would sure be nice if you all could see it!
