DG…I know C.S. She doesn’t typically attend the same sessions as your D does, BS. Can’t say for this year but that was true the past few years.

Seems they’re repeating some shows they’ve done recently… especially RENT, being done 3rd session last year…

Brown Sugar thanks for posting Session 1 shows. Interesting choices as usual. How great that your d is back to graduate at Stagedoor before she goes off to school in the fall.It is very nice for the kids to have the closure and recognition of awards night.

My d is attending her beloved 2nd session with her crew. She is officially a senior and we are in gear for the beginning of this crazy year.

Best to you and your daughter.

Thanks, Mamalu. My D is attending only the 1st session this year, and so will miss seeing your D.

My best to you and your very talented daughter as well! Please feel free to pick our brains on the college process, its perils and pitfalls, and of course, tell your D to contact my D if/when she visits 'Berg to audition in the fall! She’d LOVE to see her!

What does it mean to be a Dramafest Winner? One of the girls on the list has been in many plays with my daughter. She is an extremely talented actress.

Dramafest is a brand new event at Stagedoor this summer. Campers were invited PRIOR to camp to submit original short scripts. Five scripts are then chosen to be put on by campers during a one day event (once for each of the three sessions) to inaugurate their new theater (The Oasis). There will be a panel of theater professionals at each session’s DramaFest. They are: Richard Maltby, Jr. (Ain’t Misbehavin’, Closer Than Ever, Ring of Fire), Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q, Tales of the City), Brad Lohrenz, director of licensing for Samuel French; and Sheri Goldhirsch, artistic director for Young Playwrights Inc. (founded by Stephen Sondheim). So, the announcement of DramaFest “winners” in the previous post are the five camper playwrights who won for their original submissions for first session and will have their short plays performed. There will be five more “winners” chosen from submissions for second session and again for third session. There is a deadline for original scripts to be submitted prior to each session.

In response to SDM doing RENT again so quickly (they did it 3rd session last summer and now 1st session this summer), here is what Konnie posted about that:

“OK…Here is the story on RENT. I’ve told you guys, we REALLY read those VIP Sheets and we do the shows that are most requested. RENT was the number 2 most requested show. A few people wrote to me and said “No fair! Now first and second session won’t get to do Rent for three years! And since it’s for older kids, we’ll be graduated. We won’t get to do it and our school would NEVER do it!” So we talked it over and we decided to do something we had NEVER done before…repeat a show two years in a row! We also wanted to be a part of the whole “Rent is closing” tribute. So that is the story of RENT!!! As for the other shows…we are doing the shows YOU request whenever possible. WE READ THOSE VIP SHEETS! KONNIE”

Hi Defying… I can tell you now what my daughter’s 1st session casting is, now that phone calls are permitted and she was able to tell me today what her story is. My D was cast in a featured role in Chicago, which is the ‘big’ show this session, in the A show in the Elsie theater, she is also in Players Ensemble, by audition (which is quite a bit more selective than OTC, on the numbers), and Master Acting, also by audition, and was asked by one of the camp directors to be an actor in Dramafest, which is so exciting! (and so incredibly flattering)

Larry was her first director in her first show at Stagedoor, so it is so exciting for her to have him be her last director there as well. She absolutely adores and admires Eric, the new Players director, and she says that Stephanie, the master acting teacher, is a breath of fresh air. So, a win-win all around!

So apparently the remake of the movie “FAME” was at stagedoor the other day for casting… also Entertainment Tonight was there filming…

Brief promo on it here [ETonline Home](http://www.etonline.com) but I guess the piece is supposed to be on ET tonight…
