Stagnant SAT Score

Hey guys, in all my SAT training it seems I’ve reached a major hump. I’ve been taking a lot of practice tests and my scores are stuck between 2270-2290. These tests are official CB tests, but i’m aiming for 2350+ and I’m taking the Dec. 1 test next week O_o. Any suggestions? Do you believe that once you reach a certain point you can’t really improve, cause I’ve taken at least 16-17 CB tests and my score is not changing. I go through all the questions I get wrong and makes notes on why I got it wrong. Is there something wrong with my methodology or do you think this is the last indefatigable SAT hump that can not be conquered?

Thanks.

a 2290 is incredible I would just relax and realize the difference between 2290 and 2350 just “sounds” better. your “hump” is nothing to be upset about . I understand wanting to strive for better but I have a feeling you are going to be jussst fine in almost any admissions process . Best of luck to you and congrats on your amazing sat scores!

hey bcuse, thanks for the advice, but my ultimate aim was to surpass a 2350. I am in no way saying 2290 is a bad score, but I tried to set a personal goal at 2350. I would like to inquire whether such a goal is too idealistic, given where I am right now.

I think you’re at a great range right now, and I wouldn’t worry. I’m sure there’s not that great a difference between a 2290 and a 2300. It’s a matter of a couple of questions. You can probably still get into any university with a score like that. Don’t consider it hump; it’s more of a blessing because a lot of people would kill for a score like that.

The difference between a 2290 and a 2350 may frankly be the difference between having a good day vs having a decent day…(e.g: Your mom made you a better breakfast then usual). A score of 2290 indicates the potential to score around 2350+ on a given day, especially if one has a glaring weakness on a section (690, 800, 800).

i don’t really think practice tests mean much after a while, so yeah… as long as prepped well, the score will be as it should (2300+?)

hey guys thanks for the advice, I know a 2290 is good, i mean im fluctuating in that range t of 2260-2290, idk if at this stage improvement is possible. It seems im consistently missing 2 questions in WR, and 4-5 CR and 1 in math. @Loncria I suppose my weakness would be CR, im pretty strong in SC but get messed up on the passages. Like has anyone ever been stuck at a point like this before?

My suggestion is that you should listen to bcuse911 *et al. *and stop fixating on 2350.

There is no college or university in the country at which you’d be uncompetitive with a 2290, or even a 2270. And the colleges and universities where you really need a very high SAT score won’t care about the difference between the scores you’re getting on practice tests and the score you want.

Take the SAT. Do well. Then move on. This 2350 thing is all in your head.
