I recently got an email about being nominated as a Stamps Banneker Key potential scholar and was just absolutely ecstatic to be nominated for this award. Honestly, with my stats, I could not believe my eyes that I was even nominated. I conducted the interview last Friday and have just been checking my email nervously these past several days to see if I had made it into the final selection. Ms. Annie Stamps was a very warm and friendly woman who encouraged me to speak my mind and left me with some extremely positive remarks.
I do not want to jinx myself but the apprehension is absolutely horrendous. Could somebody fill me in on how this selection process works and what the “cut-rate” past the nomination and interview is? I’m trying to figure out whether or not they selected all 200 of the full-rides and invited them all to STAMPS or selected 10 people and cut 6; obviously, if the situation were one or the other, I’d have a better chance with the second one. I’m sure the decision will come in whenever it does and I will know then, but until then, I look forward to some answers here to ease my mind. Thank you.
