Ok, after seeing some of the scores of other kids at my school, I was seriously wondering ***! People who I would crush academically in almost every subject some how were able to pull off scores like 33 and 32. Has this happened to anyone else. In classes they would sometimes not know what was going on yet they somehow pull off scores like this. I havn’t heard of many peoples scores at my school yet I can allready think of at least 3 who have received 33’s who I would have never dreamed would be there. Is this only happening at my school.

That must be in your school only…the majority of the kids in the top 10 at my school got a score of 1200 on the SAT, and one of them got into harvard.

Lol I Spot A Hater

happens all the time…a few kids who get A’s in ap classes have 25’s and such…and kids who get C’s have 32’s.

i think the people the OP is referring to are generally either lazy/smart, or are really good test-takers/study for standardized tests only.

I am not a hater at all. It is just very wierd how many people who I would have never to believe to be brilliant or anything post scores like that. All I am saying is that colleges need a new test or something. There is no way you can compare two people based on tests like the SAT or ACT.

Happens at my school all the time.

You also never know if people are telling the truth. I had one kid give me a BS score that my sister who is friends with his brother found out was not his actual score…

You could also say it the other way around: “Grades have no weight!” In my opinion, this would be more accurate. Grades don’t hold as much water for a number of reasons, with the most important being that not everyone puts in the same amount of effort – i.e., some AP kids would not be so without paying sharp attention in class and doing hours of homework every night. Standardized tests level out the playing field, helping to show potential rather than ambition and effort, at least in some respects.

P.S. A LOT of people at my school lie about their scores. It has gotten so bad that almost nobody claims to have gotten below a 27! Seesh!

yes salsa, but what good is potential without ambition and effort?

I wish colleges would ditch the standardized test stuff. it’s just a huge money-maker for collegeboard.

Ha, it happens in my school a bit. I know a guy who I THINK is pretty intelligent, but I’m not sure if he has anything much about a 3.0. He got a 35 (or so he claims)…

It happens in my school…but then again the average score is 30…

You get the kids in the bottom of the class like me above average(woo) while there are kids in the top quintile of my class with high 20’s.

Also scores correlate stronger to income rather than grades many times…though the playing field is leveling, there still is handicap for the kids who can’t afford to have $200 ACT tutors or w/e.

happens all the time. like arachnophobia said, there are people that are lazy, yet smart, and those who are just naturally good at taking tests. i know people who are INCREDIBLY intelligent… like unbelievably intelligent, and yet they can’t break 2250/32-33.

sucks, but its reality :(

All I know is that some kids at my school would look real good on paper but have nothing to truly offer. Oh and just so you know I am not crazy jelous, I did get a 34. It is just more of the fact that they seemed like average students at my school who would get 25-28.
