Does anyone know how much emphasis is put on the standardize test score submission for class of 2018 sophomore transfer? I took my SAT my junior year and only got a 1500, however, I’m at a community college right now and have a 4.0 plus an internship along with other extracurriculars. There’s also an option to submit 3 AP test scores, but I’ve only passed two- English Lit/Lang with a 3, and the rest of my score’s are 2’s unfortunately. I’m not sure what I should do, because I am a poor standardized test taker. My major is English so I was thinking maybe my AP tests would be good to submit but I’m not sure. Additionally, I don’t even know if I should apply as an English major, I work at a magazine right now and I’m a free lance writer, multiple articles I’ve written have been published, maybe I should switch to journalism in order to make it easier to get accepted and then change to English, what do you guys think?
Hey Whitney, I am actually looking to transfer to NYU too, except I am going for Stern. I don’t have much experience on this but personally I would say you want to emphasize your change after gotten into college in your essays as much as possible because your stats from pre college are quite weak. Regarding your major, I have absolutely no idea beside the fact that they probably look at which college you are going into (CAS, Gallatin, Stern, all that) instead of which major. Just some of my thoughts!
