Its my Senior year and I need to take the Subject tests as soon as possible. Unfortunately I did not make the deadline for Dec 4th. I asked someone who works for my school and she said that the December deadline for SAT subject stuff is only highly recommended and that apparently I could try to take and submit the necessary scores in January. The only downside is that my UC admissions will be set behind all the others. I have my second SAT reasoning attempt scheduled for Dec 4th so I cant decide which is a better investment.

Cancel my second attempt on the SAT (making the SAT prep book I bought useless) and HOPE the standby will work or take and submit them in January 22nd and HOPE UC’s will have enough room for me since its going to be put on hold? If I posted this in the wrong forum section then please feel free to move it as I am posting this in a hurry. I have posted this on a previous site but I have gotten no responses. Any kind of response will be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you have already taken the SAT, take the subject tests Dec 4th or you will not be eligible for UC admission. For Fall 2011, you must have at least two subject tests in two different areas to be UC eligible. The January test date is too late for UC admission eligibility.

That was what I thought , but when I asked about the details of doing standbys to someone who works for my schools career center, she told me the other alternative I mentioned above. Was she wrong?

Was “she” a representative of the University of California? Every official UC source I know of states clearly that December is the latest test date acceptable for UC admission.

She runs my schools career center. All of my school’s counselors consider her the expert on these things. So I should take my chances with a standby? Darn, I guess my SAT prep book is useless now.
