I recently moved and need to create a home office. For my job, I travel an average of 2 weeks a month, and work from home when I’m not traveling.
In my prior residence, I used a light-weight folding table with an office chair. The table belonged to and stayed at the prior residence.
I am thinking of getting an adjustable desk that would give me the option of sitting or standing. I need space for dual monitors. I have a docking station for my laptop and a keyboard.
I don’t mind sitting all day but thought the option to stand some of the time would be better for my health. The weeks I travel for work I am doing software training, and typically stand the whole time.
I would appreciate suggestions or recommendations. Do you use a desk like this? Do you adjust it much, or just stay mostly sitting or standing? Any must-have features?
We have bought several of these desks at my office https://www.standdesk.co/. Good quality for the price and responsive service. I would not enjoy going back to a regular desk. My chair is adjusted to the height of a barstool so my desk never goes up or down much. I typically stand most of the morning and late afternoon.
I’m a software developer who works from home quite a bit. I bought this one at IKEA and love, love, love it! There’s a cheaper one that you “wind” to adjust and that might have been fine too, but I spluged!
Have looked at Varidesk, too, but since my work area at synagogue was fairly public property, I decided not to go that route and risk having it damaged. Now that I’m volunteering, I get an office (!) and feel more comfortable making a workspace that works for me. Am still mulling a chair; for sewing at home, I use a lab chair that’s high and has no arms.
DH picked it up when his former employer was unloading office furniture in 1983… SInce I’m buying the gear, I am looking at things that would also work at home.
