I’m just wondering if these activities will make me stand out from the crowd. I have done many drama productions outside and through my high school. I also am in 2 after school choir groups which I have won awards for through my school. I also studied abroad in Spain during the summer and Practiced speaking Spanish there. I also have won awards through a music school in my community for piano and voice. I’m just wondering if these things will make me stand out more than other applicants. I have more traditional activities too but I"m just wondering if these will make me stand out. Thanks for the feedback!

By the way I went to Spain through a program in my school I didn’t just go there for vacation and speak Spanish the whole time haha

You’re pretty boring, actually.

Lots of people, if not many, do drama.

depends on what kind of awards you’ve been winning

For princeton, (or any of the top 5-6 schools) only national and international awards, published research or literature, massive musical achiement (talking at a pro level, played in national orchestras), or seriously talented sportsmen stand out… (IMHO)

Nothing there will stand out, but it all is solid if coupled with a cohesive, passionate app with good scores. Don’t rely on any of those activities on their own.

P admissions will see more than 10 000 people a year with similar activities

If you want to stand out, wear stilts.

As mentioned in the 6th post, there will be wayyy tooo many students who have applied to Princeton this year (myself including). You have to have something that puts you aside from the rest, like something at a national level. Community work or Volunteer work also helps. Don’t you have some awards or experience in this field??

Community work or voluenteer work helps but to STAND OUT you need something massive. Like CAPITAL LETTERS…

Be interesting. The only awards that really matter are ones that few people, even among Princeton applicants, can boast if having. Beyond that, just be an interesting person.

i earned my girl scout gold award this year, does that count as standing out? it is a national award and i don’t think that many people earn it…

I had not idea, so I looked it up.

Congratulations on your award. It sounds like a nice accomplishment.

yeah… i’m sorry but your ECs are relatively below average for HYPSC admits. Nothing special, but as long as you effectively conveyed passion in them, it will not keep you out.

go to Yale’s early action stats thread and you will see stats/ECs that stand out from the crowd.
