To stimulate some responses:

What state are you guys from?

California, though you could already tell that

^ I heard the competition’s stiff for California. Is this true?
Pennsylvania.

Murrrryland. But not the really popular part (Baltimore/DC).

SO-CAL FTW(FTL actually)

Missouri. No where particularly exciting though.

At least it’s warm in so-cal. It’s like 12 degrees here.

I start school Monday too… I don’t know if I’ll have enough time to fix my sleep schedule hahah.

NC! It’s fairly warm here, but I bet So-Cal is warmer D:

Me on Tuesday. You guys are lucky; there has been a lot of snow on the East Coast this year.

I’m from Texas and it snowed TWICE in one year; usually it snows once in 2 years

missouri. same as anon

@Wangatang, hang out was not a success.
We must hang out though.

I have no idea when school starts actually. If it’s tomorrow, I will not be there.
It’s snowed here way too many times to make me happy. Snow = Cold. SoCal = WARM.

@Rolandic, It’s snowed 4x as many times? That’s crazy. What do you think of snow?

anon: yesss we must. if you really want to plan something for all us EA rejects, i would definitely love to help plan!

Generally I like snow; since it rarely snows in Texas, whenever it does, we try to have fun with it, but I was too busy this year.

So you could say I like snow in controlled quantities, rather than a month of nonstop snow like in the New England Area (I hate the cold), so I guess Stanford works out, as there’s always Lake Tahoe to visit in the winter!

@darkblademaster

I think more people apply from California to Stanford but they counteract that by accepting roughly 40% of their class from CA. So, I think competition is roughly equal with the rest of the country for us Californians

@Rolandic - Don’t remind me how Stanford weather is perfect
I’m not going to see it for at least 4 years.
Just kidding. I’m sure I could visit or something :)

@Xargon42, yeah, I actually think it might be easier to get into Stanford from CA? I mean, they spent like half their supplement asking if you’ve ever lived in CA. I don’t think it’s a significant amount though, especially since CA kids are crazy and always win a ton of awards, and you guys have tons of people, and tons of them are smart. Like in USAMO, USABO, USABO, IPO, and all those things, everyone is from CA.

You’re right; most high schools in/near Palo Alto are pretty intense. Although I think it’s more difficult for Californian Asians, simply because of the massive populations of (qualified) Asians there.

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH SCHOOLWORK.
I was almost afraid I missed #5000.

haha its all good canary. just survive 5 more months and you’ll be free
and maybe we’ll be excitedly talking about how we’re going to the same school!!!.. its not wrong to have hope right? lol
