Stanford 2015 Hopefuls

^haha thanks. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the school.

another hopeful here loving stanford but wondering if she could get in…I’m more of the “Try everything and explore” type. Sadly not brilliant in any specific field.

Ahhhhh, stanford international relations…the thought of it makes me all starry-eyed…

Eiswein, chances are excellent that you’ll discover your field(s) of brilliance while at college. Stanford is a great place to do that. The General Education Requirements ensure broad exposure across disciplines, while being remarkably flexible to fulfill. That was one of the many things that drew me to Stanford.

^ I heard that Stanford preferred those who were brilliant in a specific field to those well-rounded. Is that just a rumor?
I am sure Stanford’s General Education Requirements would be an exhilirating journey of exploration considering its strengths in both the social and natural science fields. If only I could get in…

i think they like people who are exposed to all fields, not necessarily the best at all fields
many students, including myself (i think?) are considered the "well-lopsided’ type, as my regional admit officer called it

^^ i am a well rounded student . Not the highest ranker in academics but decent more than 85% percentile of the class maybe more. Involved in sports and lots and lots of community programs and i lead them and i founded a couple as well. Do you think stanford will take into consideration of my amazing EC or will they overlook it and look at my AVERAGE academics ?

Hey I’m also considering Stanford or Yale for SCEA! I still haven’t decided since they’re both so different from each other and both of them have things that I love. Yale does seem like it would have a higher admission rate but as Stanford’s admissions are so well-known as a crapshoot maybe EA would make it less random?

@NJDS

Hi buddy. I’m up for Stanford 2015 REA. Remember me from last year? X-D

@all
We should try to beat the 2014 REA posting record. :p

It was loads of fun last year posting around all day and night, praying and joking and getting post #s… just visit the last year’s thread.

And this year, lets wage a war against all Ivies, not just Yale ;)

Hey all- I’m yet another starry-eyed hopeful who’s going to apply EA. Hoping a miracle or something happens and I get in :P

I’m a little confused, though- wasn’t there a thread specifically for EA last year? If there’s one for this year, I haven’t been able to find it (I guess it could just not have been made yet, though… it is a bit early in the year…)

^

you’ve just posted in that thread, my friend.
The last year’s was called Stanford 2014 Hopefuls :p

If you are searching for the decision thread, that will be created after a long, long time. :)

No, I get that this one is for the people who’re applying to Stanford. Last year, though, there were two separate threads like this- one for SCEA and one for RD. I clicked through several pages of it and they mentioned that the year before, at least, they’d had a SCEA-specific thread too. This thread, for this year, seems to be for both SCEA and RD people. I’m just curious why that is.

^

hmm I get your point… creates REA discussion thread

It seems the Stanford forum traffic is pretty low, which may explain why there wasn’t an SCEA specific thread. I don’t know if it was higher in past years, as my CC use is sporadic at best and only for 1.5 years.

Stanford CC traffic will probably pick up in late September/October a lot as the REA deadline approaches. Last year was particularly unique because of the Class of 2014 thread (we were just epic :P), so traffic was huge at almost every minute of the day for about 2 months until REA decisions came out

but the Stanford traffic is already much larger than the other ivies

^Huh I checked into that and it seems you’re right. I always had the impression we had less stuff here going on though, maybe cause this is the forum I visit the most so not much stuff is updated when I check back at it.

^what you said made me go all philosophical…What we tend to view intensively (a meaningful project, an long-awaited film,ect.) seems to bear more defects than it truly does.

lol

Yale seems to have the most active thread!

How long are you guys keeping your common app essays?

^Huh? I subscribed to the Yale 2015 thread and it never pops up in my mailbox, weird.

:S that is weird. I never open CC without there being another post in that thread.
