Here’s a place where the members of the high school Class of 2011 who are planning to apply to Stanford can congregate and discuss. My other two reach schools are Harvard and Columbia (and I suppose Berkeley to a certain extent), but I decided to try for Stanford, not just because I’ll be living in California beginning in the fall, but also because I remember researching Stanford’s programs in my intended major and was pleased with what I saw.

Feel free to share your own stories! (why you want to apply, what your prospective majors are, and perhaps at a later date, acceptances/rejections :P)

^ Oh, definitely, lol! You’re pretty much applying to all the same schools I am (Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, Berkeley)… in fact, the only school on my list you’re not applying to is my safety (U of Toronto). Since people will continue to apply to even more selective schools, I think there are a couple other people who are in the same boat as we are.

I’m almost 100% sure I’ll apply SCEA. Stanford’s always been my dream school for as long as I can remember. Stanford’s in the Top 10 in all my intended majors too. What I love most about Stanford is the atmosphere; It seems to be the most chill/laid back/relaxed out of all the Top 10 schools. Not to mention the fact that it has awesome weather, and a great balance between athletics and academics. I’ll also be applying to Duke, and most of the Ivies, but a Stanford SCEA acceptance would change everything for me.

Well Harambee, I hope you get in And tigerton, as for how long it’ll take to apply, I actually don’t know what the Stanford supplement looks like. From what I’ve heard, though, it’s quite lengthy.

After a good visit this past fall and rave reviews from a current student I know, I think I’ll be applying early too.
I’m looking at communications/Spanish. I’m so excited and nervous for senior year!

I am 100% sure that I will apply SCEA. @fledgling: U of T is very crowded that the average class size (particularly first year) is about 400 to 500 people. Perhaps McGill is better?
Good luck fellow applicants!

I actually don’t mind large class sizes. And even then, my classes will probably be slightly smaller than most, especially since I’m going for a relatively rare major (German).

I definitely want to apply next year! But the annoying thing is that there isn’t a system that helps you apply to all the different universities. Also, american universities seem to have really lengthy (and different!) application requirements and stuff.
In the UK we have an online system called UCAS which sorts out a lot of the stuff!

I am 100% applying SCEA and can’t wait to (hopefully) be a Cardinal! I live in an area of the midwest where literally no one even takes the SAT and I’ve only met one person who has even heard of SAT IIs, so it’s been a long and lonely road to Stanford, haha, but I am so pumped to apply.
I will also most likely apply to Duke, UNC Chapel Hill (OOS), William and Mary, UVA (OOS), and Wake Forest… but without a doubt, Stanford is my number one. Best of luck to everyone!

Me! I probably won’t apply SCEA, because my stats are relatively bad anyway. I’m just going to apply RD and shoot an arrow into the dark. It’s not likely I’ll hit the target, but no harm in applying.

^ Just FYI, Columbia doesn’t have an SCEA program. It does have an ED program, but you have to be absolutely sure you’d want to attend before applying under that program.

I am also applying to Stanford for Class of '15.I am so excited and stressed at the same time.I was thinking to apply in EA/ED and I was between Yale and Stanford. But I decided to apply in Yale because I believe that I have more chances to get in rather than in Stanford or MIT(which is another university that I will apply). Stanford scares me a bit because it has high requirements, but i still positive:)

^ Yale also has very high admissions standards. I’d encourage you to apply to Stanford as well – after all, they’re all high reaches for everyone, so it wouldn’t hurt just to try :)

^^You have right fledgling. All universities which I decided to apply have high standards, but I didn’t regret my decision.I was thinking to apply to both of them in EA/ED but I don’t I know yet:/

I will be very happy if they will accept me.The chance to study something that is my dream to do, and my country doesn’t give that opportunity, is enough to me;)Thank you though:)I will think about it:)

And also, when the application form will be available??
