Stanford Admission

I’m a big believer in the phrase, “anything is possible;” however, I recently received a 580 on my Chem SAT II and I was just denied access into AP American History (even though I met the criteria, the class was full). It has become very hard to find motivation and confidence in myself. Is there any glimmer of hope left regarding admission to Stanford considering I have these two things hanging over my shoulder?

Get a good hook and keep the GPA/SAT up

Why is the SATII ‘hanging over your shoulder?’ It’s not like you are required to submit and SATII in Chem (unless you were planning to be a chem major in which case the lack of an SATII in that subject might look odd). Take something else. Or retake it if you think it was just an ‘off day.’

And having AP American Hist is not a requirement for admission to Stanford or anywhere else. Nor is having dozens of APs for that matter. You just have to have a rigorous academic program, relative to what’s offered at your schools, as determined by your
guidance counselor when they fill out their part of the common application.

So, as far as hope goes, you have the same chance as previously. Just keep your grades up and find some SATIIs that you can score better on.
