Stanford Art Supplement HELP

I will be recording my self singing for the Stanford Art Supplement to help show that I am a well-rounded person (I am not intending on majoring in anything music-related).

The specifications of the supplement state that the recordings must be “recorded in a natural acoustic and unedited.” Since I am recording in a professional studio and the sound will be dry (no echo or room ambiance / reverberation), do you think it would be acceptable to allow a computer to add a very slight reverb to the vocals AS I sing them? This would make the sound so much more natural and lessen the can-hear-every-little-detail effect created without the reverb. Do you think this would violate the “unedited” part, even though it is not added after the fact, but rather, during it? As a counterargument, wouldn’t this make the sound into a “natural acoustic”?

I am torn on this, as the studio will provide MUCH better quality for the vocals, but I would NEED to put in reverb. Whereas, I could record in a medium-size room and achieve the natural acoustical reverb I need at the cost of losing vocal quality (not in professional studio).

Why don’t you try to get in touch with the music dept and ask them?
