Did anyone else receive a thick booklet with “The wind of freedom…” on the front from Stanford recently? I know it is likely just because I applied, but the timing is a little odd. I would have guessed that I would receive it sooner, right after I applied for REA. I’m just wondering if everyone else has also gotten this in the mail. Thanks and good luck!

Yes.
I haven’t applied yet.

I got it in the mail the other day.

Myself (applied REA) and two other friends (not applying), received a booklet about a week ago.

I got the booklet about 2 days ago. Yeah the timing is a bit odd.

i got one yesterday, and one last weekend

Does anyone else find the timing odd, though? I mean, if we are supposed to find out decisions on the 9th or the 15th, then why are they sending me a booklet on 25th of November? Could this mean something?

no. it’s a booklet…

Yes, I know it’s a booklet. But why send it to me a month after they received my completed application? And, 2 weeks before decision date (Assuming they continue the trend of releasing decisions the Friday before the reported date)?

are you suggesting that it means they have admitted you?

personally, i think the timing is right. the reason why they send out booklets is to increase interest in the school and thereby increasing yield. they know already that, by applying EA, students who are admitted will more likely than not choose to go.

by sending out a booklet a couple weeks after they send the EA application, they revive interest in stanford while the applicant is getting interested in and applying to other great schools that could affect stanfords yield.

idk. it might be that… but it’s definitely not a likely letter

Who knows? You might be correct, but no one knows for sure.

LOL, I wish it was a likely letter.

StanfordCS, people who haven’t sent in applications have got them… If you want the booklet to boost your hopes, fine. People who are sane think otherwise though.

I got mine about a month ago and I didn’t apply.

I’m sure people who either sign up for Stanford’s mailing list or check the box on SAT/ACT/AP tests to share scores with colleges will get the book… I guess it was just odd timing considering I haven’t done any of these things. In other words, stanford got my address from the common app, and wouldn’t it be wasteful to send those magazines to everyone who applies?

Are there people who applied REA and haven’t gotten the booklet?

@mrcool280
I applied REA and I did not receive the booklet :/

I received one too…I hope it means I’m in…why else would they send a brochure to someone who already applied?

I got mine long ago…maybe even the same week I applied. I don’t think there’s a correlation. I was on their mailing list because I visited.

I received a booklet before I applied, then another one the same day the OP reported. Probably doesn’t mean anything, but I can’t help but be hopeful. :)

I didn’t get one. Maybe it does mean something…
