***Stanford Class of 2019 Applicant Discussion***

S had an interview last week. She was nice and friendly:)

I have an interview this Saturday and I am nervous

@stahboy all the best!
Mine’s next week

@tebieho8 DO you have any specific question on CSS Profile?

So how many people do you guys think applied to Stanford this year?

probably around 50,000

Has anyone had their mid-year report processed and listed on the credentials@stanford.edu (application status) email? I know Stanford requires it, but it doesn’t show up on mine and has already for other east coast colleges I’m applying to (I live in-state).

I think I read somewhere that Penn had 39,000 applicants this year. 39,000. I feel like Stanford had 45,000 this year, but who knows. Lol, we already know that it will have the lowest acceptance rate again :stuck_out_tongue:

Interview tomorrow, any advice?

@drblack I have an interview too!

My interview lasted 2 hours, it went very well! I wish interviews weighed in more in the admissions process

“^^No. Most do not. Most who get accepted did not (outside of the recruited athletes by virtue of their contacts with coaches). Interviews were started as a pilot program 3-4 years ago and are still in its roll-out phase. They don’t even offer interviews in the most populous state (California)…its home state.

Can you tell me how you know that most who get accepted did not get interviewed?

I want my decision now. It’s the only like top tier school i applied to

@tryhardclass. Last year Stanford had over 42,000 applicants…and this year who knows how high that number will be…
…Stanford just recently rolled out the interviews…they are still in the process of finding enough “interested” alumni who have the precious “time” to be involved in the interview process. Many would love to…but, just don’t have the time in all the locations they have designated…so, at this point, they are “sporadically” interviewing applicants and it is basically “random” who they interview…

If you notice Stanford does not offer interviews in the most populous countries like India and China (where most of their international applicants are) or even South Korea (where a big chunk of their international applicants are)…they don’t offer interviews in the most populous states like California, Florida, Illinois (outside of Chicago), Michigan, Ohio…and if you know anything about demographics…these represent a big chunk of the American population. And, even among those cities, states, and countries designated thus far…most interviews are “hit-or-miss”…

As I said before…until Stanford starts interviewing their “home” state applicants…it is still in its infant stage.

Hey, guys!
According to the Stanford’s website, Florida applicants don’t get interviews; however, has anyone in Florida received an interview request, anyway? I know a guy from Vermont who got an interview, even though the Stanford’s website does not list Vermont as one of the states that receive interviews. I fear that not receiving an interview might be indicative of rejection. Stanford is my dream, I need to go there! :’-(

Hey, guys!
Evidently (from the post above), and according to the Stanford’s website, Florida applicants don’t get interviews; however, has anyone in Florida received an interview request, anyway? I know a guy from Vermont who got an interview, even though the Stanford’s website does not list Vermont as one of the states that receive interviews. I fear that not receiving an interview might be indicative of rejection. Stanford is my dream, I need to go there! :’-(

@visionary123 i’m from Florida and I haven’t received an interview. it is NOT indicative of a rejection, all it means is that there aren’t any available alumni in the area-you will not penalized.

Or that they just didn’t get to you! For weeks we knew one person who had an interview in our town…but not the others…one was just contacted for an interview…seems like a pilot program to me and bet they just won’t get to everyone even in places they have alumni.

Thank you for your response, @Rdtsmith‌! I’m just so anxious and scared! I need to go to Stanford - it means a lot to me!
But, then, they have been people from your town here, in Florida, who have been contacted for interviews, right? Where are you from, by the way? I’m from Central Florida (Orlando).

@gravitas2 Ah, that makes sense. I thought you were talking about how not being offered an interview was indicative of having a higher chance of getting accepted into the school. Did not know you were talking about the geographical factors.
