@ThatGirlCoder don’t let it bring you down. I’m sure you’ve gotten into some amazing schools!
Accepted!!!
I’m really disappointed of what I’m going to do the next year. Is there any other California college available? Or should I start 1st-year college in my country and try to apply transfer next EA?
@MohTamer @pleaseacceptme99 That’s probably just hollistic admissions review at work.
@pleaseacceptme99 Do you remember if your essays were good or not? It’s likely they saw something in you that couldn’t be shown through your grades and test.
@ak2018 yes my essays were very good. I worked on them since junior year had them reviewed by guidance counselors and former members of admissions committee’s. I also had over 1000 hours of volunteer work and I had high accomplishments in my extracurriculars (national champion in my sport 2 years in a row). I do think the holistic review had everything to do with my acceptance.
ivy day is gonna wreck me
Wait listed with 29 ACT, no SAT 2 and countless grammatical errors on essays. Was expecting an outright rejection.
Lol accepted to Stanford, waitlisted at Cal and UCSD, rejected by Duke, Northwestern, UCLA…how did this happen…
A note to all future students reading this thread: the above is a perfect demonstration as to how much of a crapshoot college admissions is. Never underestimate yourself, luck is a beautiful thing.
Waitlisted, but accepted the offer and realized that it’s binding… Is it possible to call (when the office opens) and retract my acceptance of the offer? I love Stanford, but I don’t want to be forced to go in the rare case I get off the waitlist.
Congratulations to all of you who got into Stanford! To those waitlisted or rejected, remember that college is not the end! It’s more about what you do over the next four years than where you go… if you work hard and make a difference, you’ll be successful regardless of which school you attend!
@mountaingoats and anyone else who applied for financial aid: After you create an account, you should be able to see your financial aid. This was tricky for us last year, but if you follow the instructions carefully, it should work fine (and you shouldn’t have to wait 24 hours). Congratulations to everyone who got in and to everyone else who had the courage to try!
@idokyungsoo how do you know it’s binding?
@idokyungsoo You are mistaken - waitlists are NEVER binding. Relax!
D rejected
Not first in college
Not diverse enough
Not international enough
Not asain enough
@smartypants57 @desie1 Well, here’s a portion of my letter:
“If you accept a place on our waitlist, we will send you a status update sometime after May 15, 2016. We recognize that you must respond to offers of admission from other colleges by May 1, and you should secure a place in the freshman class at one of those colleges by that deadline. If you are later offered and accept admission to Stanford from the waitlist you will be required to withdraw your enrollment from the other college.”
I GOT IN!!! Now ivy day will just be pure fun
that’s only if you accept their offer…then you would have to withdraw your enrollment form the other school you committed to on may 1. the only down side is you would lose your deposit at the first school.
lol at people who are like “wasn’t ____ (a urm, a first gen, etc); no wonder i got rejected.” the bitterness. sorry though.
@idokyungsoo I’m in the same boat – accepted a spot before realizing that it was binding. However, I’m pretty sure you can change your waitlist response before May 1st. Here’s a part of the waitlist response form:
“If you have already confirmed your decision and are looking to update that information, please email the admissions office at credentials@stanford.edu.”
So I think you can just email them anytime before May 1st and change your decision.
Sorry I’m late to the party but I got in! I’m so excited, I was literally shaking for a solid 15 minutes - congrats to everyone who was accepted and good luck in the upcoming week to everyone still waiting on decisions!
