***Stanford Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

I think I’m going to start hyperventilating. I always do weird stuff when I’m nervous… Why can’t I be like one of those cool, calm kids? :((

@harvard2020babe People with MAJOR HOOKS get in with all kinds of scores. Everyone is applying with as much as they can, including a bunch of high scores.

C’mon guys, whatever we get in 36 minutes won’t stop us from being awesome students. Let’s wish the best for us

That’s the spirit!! @storrijos

Yeah I did.

@kittymom1102 That’s what you’re making it sound like. Newsflash, MOST students do not have “major hooks”, whatever that even means (purely subjective and dependent on each school’s applicant pool). Kindly stop harassing nervous and anxious students here, “mom”.

@mdorbust don’t feel depressed! You’re personal worth and potential DO NOT ride upon USA college admissions! And plus you’ve got into a few Universities, that’s an achievement ^.^ if it makes you feel better, I’m going to just say that money is the main reason for rejection-- I knew a girl who got into Harvard with a 1970 SAT, because of a few ‘donations’ lol. I’ll pray for you for Stanford!!!

@chicago107 I think in case’s like yours, kids coming from unknown/poor/under-served schools have an advantage in the holistic process. Colleges assumed that no one advised the kids any better.

Now, coming from a well-known, highly-regarded HS is a different story. Colleges know the school very well and have a long history of students applying from there. They know what those students bring

Don’t worry. Good Luck!

@Marcelleparcelle Thank you, you’re very kind-hearted. I will pray for you as well. I hope it really works out for everyone here. <3

Lol just checking Stanford Statistics and it says that <1% of people in the past years got in with a 18-23 ACT, i really wanna meet those people Lol

international here, actually why have subject tests? is the syllabus different from that of AP? have no idea about AP haha

@grimx98 probably recruited athletes, not to knock all D1 athletes but those scores have become the norm for them

Thanks @kittymom1102 I’m hoping for the best. @grimx98 probably a really nice athlete or son/daughter of a donor and @plutolove The subjects covered on the subject tests are easier and less broad but there are some subjects not taught in an AP class. AP classes are much tougher but have more generous curves.

@plutolove where are you from? Anyone from Spain here?

@mdorbust All kinds of students get in with all kinds of scores. Every university will evaluate every applicant in the context of his/her school. If your school doesn’t have a history of kids going to highly selective colleges, universities will take that into account. You just didn’t know.

However, coming from a highly-regarded, well-known HS, I don’t know if they are going to buy it. Colleges already know what to expect from students coming from those schools.

Good Luck!

HALF AN HOUR!!! AHHH!!!

IDK about all the low scorers being recruited athletes. Most of the athletes at Stanford I know all have amazing stats, along with national achievement in their sport.

The athletes at Stanford are reportedly really smart though. They are recommended by their coaches to maintain a high gpa level and get a high sat if they want to go to a school like Stanford regardless of their athletic talent.

@chicago107 ah i see thanks! @storrijos singapore!

Is anyone’s Stanford status portal changing?
