UCLA’s decision for your child was unexpected (if not crazy and illogical). On the other hand, maybe AO at UCLA already sensed or heard the Stanford offer for your child before making the decision about your child’s UCLA application. Had that been the case, it would have made sense. Otherwise, we are all gamblers! From what I know, AO can scout applicants, especially those prized students who stand out in their schools/camps/competitions. In one extreme case, one of the identical twin got an offer while the other got deferred. Rumor has it that the deferred one did not try as hard as his/her mirror image at the school/camp/competition. The AO made the right call there for the twins. Crazy right?!
@2017MITDad I am guessing (just guessing) that AO might have actually clicked on and reviewed two blogs created by my kid specifically mentioned in his essays designed to have the reader check them out. My kid, in his eagerness to let people know he’s attending Stanford, posted there prominently that he’s headed to Stanford. Looking back, he should not have done that even though it’s true he’s attending Stanford because you never know. But again, I am just guessing.
@websensation I second this fact. They do take a look at the website links posted. There were two visits from places nearby Stanford to my personal website and once to my project’s website. They are wonderful. Having more than 40k+ applications on desk and even then visiting the links on an application is commendable. Love you Stanford

According to Stanford’s twitter account, RD decisions are being released on March 31st at 4pm PST instead of 3PM PST.
@HYPSPlease It was Palo Alto, Stanford IT, Sam Jose and four others. I need to check through the database. However, AFAIK, most of the places were within 10-15 miles from Stanford of Google Maps

@USUG21 I am an applicant, reapplying after an exciting gap year. In both admissions cycle, if you add LinkedIn link, they might visit your profile but they often use “Private” mode to view. Hope that helps
