Does anyone know if Stanford has a set range of acceptances per school or county?
Right now I’m the only deferred person who applied stanford rea (rest rejected) and usually my school has more than 2 who get in
@callmegray ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I got deferred too but I’m the only person who applied to stanford at my school
@kath00 Don’t you think your dd got in with her low scores because she’s a legacy?
I know it’s a little far off, but does anyone (maybe someone who was deferred) know when the REGULAR DECISION release date is?
@fashionella legacy plays a big role in REA admissions for Stanford. All of the students admitted from my school were either URM, recruited athlete, or legacy.
@ihopeigetin1152 It’s right on their website. It’s April 1st.
@kath00, my opinion is that it’s a hook, but it’s not the only one. We know someone who got in with 2100/2400 SAT scores, but was very involved/passionate re her activity, non athlete, not a legacy.
Oops, I meant @fashionella.
@fashionella No I don’t think she got in because she’s legacy. I read once that in the REA pool if they took everyonw who was legacy, they would simply fill up the ENTIRE class before Jan 1st even rolled around.
Also 4 other REA’s got denied from her school this round (maybe more but these are the families we know), all of them single and double legacy…
Sorry I should clarify the above. Over 20 people applied REA from DD’s school. Everyone got turned down except for my DD. 4 of them that we are aware of are legacy. 3 are double legacy (mom and dad) and 1 with dad as legacy. No deferrals even. Her school is huge and now Naviance shows over 100 people are applying regular admission so we’ll so how it goes come April 1st.
Last year, only 2 people got in. One was an athletic recruit and one was a non-legacy minority who was also a superb dancer and an excellent student (and one of my DD’s friends). I am pretty sure there were at least 10 legacy families last year and none were placed in the class of 2020.
@neoking congrats! My son got into JHU so it’s truly an inspiring end to a loooong and stressful process. Best wishes to your college transition and may we always have Clear Skies!
@kath00 Thanks for providing that clarity. I think HS students can over-emphasize the importance of legacy in this process. Does it matter? Yes. Is it a golden ticket? Absolutely not. The results of the legacy applicants in your daughter’s school should hopefully let all readers know that it’s extremely extremely tough for anyone, regardless of legacy status.
My financial aid letter says that the award will not be granted until I have submitted documentation of registering for the Selective Service. However, what should I do if I am still too young to apply (not yet the 17 years, 3 months required for early registration)?
Call them
is there a groupme?

If you go to step 4, there are links to connect on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
@ayylmaooooo I’m planning to start a Stanford 2021 RD Groupme. Just PM me.
Same for everyone. PM me if you wanna join
On the “Name your favorite books, authors, films, and/or artists. (50 word limit)”, did you guys list works or explain them? I just had a pretty extensive list going since we only get 50 words, but maybe I made it too easy on myself?
DD did 1 book and explained briefly why. Actually she originally did one movie (Disney’s Up) but then the 50 word limit made it impossible to explain so we went simpler.
@mayam0208: Last year my daughter just did a list, covering each genre as much as she chose, with no explication. She is Stanford '20.
