Stanford is long-shot for everyone. I expect to get rejected, so when the news comes, I won’t be disappointed ヾ| ̄ー ̄|ノ.
@TheBeyonder Yeah me too Bud!! ?
I know that I will be disappointed no matter how I much I prepare myself for rejection ?
I know somebody on Reddit said that Stanford released their 2018-2019 Common Data Set yesterday. Does that mean that Stanford finished reviewing all their applications for the upcoming school year? The last date change I’ve seen on Reddit was 3/15.
18-19 is class of 2022
We’re in 2019 now. Our first year in Stanford will be 2019-2020…
So we’re class of 19-20
Yeah makes sense… 15th was Friday.
It’s unlikely AOs will read apps on weekends.
They need some break too…
All of my colleges are bamboolzing me:
- UCLA (Delays their decisions 1 week AND keeps emailing me to EXPERIENCE UCLA when I haven’t even gotten in yet)
- UCSD (Delays their decision 1 week)
- UCD (Accepts me to the Marine and Coastal Science when I swore I clicked Biology)
- UPenn (Never even sent me my application portal, had to contact them for it, oh, and no interview when my classmates got them)
- Stanford (Releases on April Fools)
- Cornell (Apparently applicants in HumanEco have gotten calls, I didn’t)
- Yale (No interview when classmates got them)
- Harvard (Interview was discussion about life and its meaning???)
@whatsmypassword We need to meet up at like Starbucks on April Fools so we can see our rejection letters haha!(ノ・ω・)ノ
@whatsmypassword Yeah, but I think colleges release their common data set a year after, or more specifically, after they finalize the class for the upcoming year. I just looked up colleges like USC, UCLA, and Harvard (who haven’t released decisions yet), and their most recent CDS is 17-18. But for colleges like UCSC and Pomona College (that released decisions already), they have the 18-19 year as the most recent one. So, it could possibly mean that Stanford finalized decisions yesterday but will withhold from notifying applicants to maintain their historical precedence.
@TheBeyonder Ah… Yes…
But it’s probably out on 29th, and…
I’m international lol
@oxybox Oh! I didn’t know that before.
But I doubt they have finalized as so many QB finalists haven’t had the portal change yet.
Its highly improbable that these guys would be screened in the first reading.
@whatsmypassword It’s okay, haha! I didn’t know until recently, either. That’s true too; I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if there are any more date changes
Also, statistically, most students on college confidential are usually academic and intellectual fanatics XD. We find solace in understanding what we do not understand, it takes the place of the unpredictability and lack of control we have over our fate… (◡﹏◡✿)
Yup… Let’s just wait for the results now!! @oxybox
@TheBeyonder True that XD!!
Also, which keyboard are you using damn!! The emojis are damn nice!!
@oxyboy You are speculating a lot. The fact that the common data set was released has literally no bearing on the current admissions cycle. Stanford continues reading applications until the very last day.
Hey guys, I think the no change theory for borderline applicants has some merit to it. My date still says 1/03 and here are my stats:
3.5 GPA, 4.1 W GPA, 30 ACT Superscore
ECs:
Jack and Jill Southern USA Legislative Chair (Elected in 10)(9-12)
Ted Cruz Senate Campaign Intern (12)
Presidential Data Volunteer (10)
Congressional Intern (10)
Congressional Campaign Volunteer (9-10)
Sibling Primary Caregiver (9-11)
Political Youtube Channel (21 k subs and 7.5 million views)(9-12)
Law Internship (12)
Wolf-Pac Texas Volunteer (10-12)
Mock Trial Lead Attorney (12)
Hooks: URM (African-American male)
Certainly not the best stats, but I saw someone get in REA as an asian with a similar SAT score/GPA. Make of my case what you will, but I don’t think I could have gotten thrown out during initial review without further discussion.
@whatsmypassword I wonder if there is a different kind of portal for the QB’s. Even tho we (well, my son) have the green checklist with dates, could it be that the QB’s have a different kind of portal? Also, Id be interested to know if ANY QB’s test date has changed yet.
I doubt that.
I don’t think colleges would take the pain to create many different portals.
And to your question, yes many QB applicants’ portal dates have changed. There was a survey on Reddit. You can go look it up.
But it seems that the #NoPortalChangeGang is the minority now XD
