Stanford Class of 2023 Discussion

@typicaltaurus Ha, funny, are you serious? Mine has the street address and then the PO Box twice which is how its been all along.

I do not have any errors on my portal… i am just gonna call it a day and say im gonna be rejected.

My D is accepted Upenn, Pomona, UCLA and USC (rejected to Brown, Darthmouth, Princeton). Probably going to Stanford if accepted! Good luck to all.

GOOD LUCK Y’ALL!!! I was reading through the thread and I saw something about a decision date theory…what is it and what does it mean?

I am serious. I’m nervous someone hacked into it.

Last year, the Stanford decisions for the Class of 2022 came out at 5 pm CST on Good Friday, which would be this Saturday. I bet that you get decisions tomorrow.

@girlmm00 lol it’s just that- a theory. Don’t sweat it, by 4 tomorrow you will have a final decision and it won’t matter what date is listed under the scores in the portal.

@CelesteTosc Thank you lol! I am just curious as to what it means?

Is this portal date change theory a new one for this year? Well, all the admission data is supposed to be kept in a database, which might just be a large excel file or something similar. By now, the admission should have changed the status of each student. I assume that’s just a column where they put A, R, W for each applicant. But why does that have to affect the dates in another column is beyond my imagination. I certainly wouldn’t do that. Maybe a future CSc person can think of reason for doing so. Stanford is full of smart programmers and it sounds strange they would leave a clue like this. Or wouldn’t they?

Haven’t gotten a portal change yet, no idea what that means. Fingers crossed.

A theory on reddit:

Every applicant’s portal, at the beginning, shows the ACT/SAT received date as the date the application was submitted. When this date changes, it indicates that the committee has made a decision on the application. There are two main scenarios for a change:

If the ACT/SAT date has been changed to the current date (for example, 3/28 for today), and the applicant has not received a likely letter, it indicates a rejection.

If the ACT/SAT date has been changed to the date that the ACT/SAT scores were received by Stanford (usually a date in January 2019 or before), this indicates an acceptance.

Proof:

Instances of the second scenario only occurred today. This is probably indicative that Stanford finalized their admitted class today, one day before the official decision date.

Instances of the second scenario are few and far between. It would reflect Stanford’s extremely low acceptance rate

As to why the first and second scenario even exists, this is my theory: the first scenario is a glitch. When an applicant’s profile is updated, the date of the update is reflected on the SAT/ACT row. Don’t ask me why. The second scenario is Stanford verifying the official scores of the incoming class. They probably do this to make sure their statistics for the Class of 2023 are accurate.

@ibanker38 Yeah I just saw that over there. It doesn’t quite hold water to me. I actually like what @Dataminer sez above. Possible that as they make a decision something gets triggered , a bug in the system as they are setting portals or clicking on a decision column.

I would deny this theory.

What about self reported scores?

Hey, does anyone know if Stanford sends more emails after the first application confirmation letter. Cause I haven’t heard from them since then and my guess is they have already flat out rejected me. I guess I’m just being paranoid and this point but idk!

@whatsmypassword That Reddit guy answered that this way " My guess would be that their ACT/SAT score date would not change." But the numbers aren’t right for that. Most people self report these days.

@ThatKidsMom They would change if they got rejected (first scenario as described). Only if they get accepted+they self-reported, then their date would not change.

Ah… Let’s see what happens tomorrow

@ThatKidsMom I found it on Reddit.

It seems pretty unreliable to me. He says that “If the ACT/SAT date still hasn’t been changed by 4PM on 3/29, this indicates a waitlist.” in point 3.

Then in the comments, he says that the date for self-reported applicants probably won’t change if they are accepted.

This seems contradictory IMO.

Honestly rn i am not holding out much hope after Columbia +3 rejected me yesterday … a poor ivy day for me

My date has always been before the application submission date cos I submitted the score before my application…

But surely a rej…
