stanford’s my dream school, but i was rejected from ivies and berkeley, so i dont think i have a good shot
My son got interview from MIT, YALE and Cornell but not from this school. He got denied from 3 of them
what time do decisions come out?
My son had no interviews, which is a shame because he interviews really well, but probably indicative of his chances/results. He was rejected from MIT, Caltech, UChicago (deferred first), Harvard & UC Berkeley. Luckily he did get into the two safety schools he applied to, I just wish he had applied to an instate school as well.
@Daye1025 What were your son stats and EC’s?
I just got rejected from Yale, Columbia, UPenn, Brown, Emory, Oxford College, Wesleyan, Bowdoin, Colby, Pomona, Haverford, Amherst, Swarthmore, and Tufts so I’m not super optimistic lol
@melon24 4 PM pacific, 7 PM eastern
My son got denied from CS at MIT (deferred first), UCB, UCLA, Harvard, UPenn, Yale, Cornell, UIUC. Waitlisted at CMU and GTech. Got in at UMich, UCSD, Wisconsin, Purdue and Minnesota.
He is not holding his breath for Stanford. But, this will be his last (reject)

Do interviews hold much weight? My Harvard interview was way better than my Stanford interview, and I got waitlisted at Harvard. :0
@buckybarnesx, unfortunately, most interviews hold little weight, unless you absolutely blow it. Alumni interviewers have been frustrated for years, seeing their favorite interviewees getting rejected despite all the glowing interview feedback. Please don’t blame yourself for anything, including the interview. Just remember that it is a lottery - with so many amazing applicants, maybe ten times as many kids would make excellent students, but only so many spots are available. Btw, this year at H your chances to get off the waitlist might be significantly higher, but again, it comes down to luck. In the end, you will do great wherever you land!
Agree. My S20, when he interviewed, heard from more than one alumni interviewer that they haven’t had an admit yet. Thus, when he recently got admitted to Georgetown (SFS), his interviewer was thrilled (we were too, of course). Back in February, we were worried when S20 didn’t get an interview with Duke, but learned yesterday that he was fortunate to get an admit. At the same time, he felt had great interviews with some of the Ivy schools that he was waitlisted or denied. He has no hooks. He has solid stats, not exceptional - but high rank, likely strong recs, good ECS, multiyear leadership, state level accomplishments, and his mother’s gift for writing. So where he might slot in, among many places that he found potentially attractive and could pursue his interests, was not clear when this process started. In the end, covering your bases with safeties and semi-safeties and then as many reach schools as you want or are capable of handling might be the right balance. The interview, for most places, unless with an admissions officer, is probably not deterministic unless something goes badly.
I haven’t heard a single word from Stanford since I applied  So I’m ready for my rejection. I just keep saying 9/ 11 isn’t bad. Hand me my rejection Stanford ?
Accepted to: Cornell, Emory, USC, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCI, UCSD, UCSB
Rejected: Northwestern and most likely Stanford
@hsparent13 Congratulations on your acceptances. With those it’s understandable why you don’t don’t seem concerned about Stanford. I can’t say I’m in the mood to laugh about whatever comes my way just yet. I am waiting anxiously for several decisions. I am feeling very humbled by the success of so many posting on College Confidential. Good luck everyone, and I hope you have a wonderful experience wherever you go and whatever you do.
Good luck to all. We were just as excited 4 years ago, but I can remember our son’s Stanford acceptance like it was yesterday!!
Any international students here who got an interview from stanford or had email correspondences? I didnt hence asking
@Rivet2000 same experience here, last year Stanford was my daughter’s last decision and the previous day, she got into Berkeley and we were extremely happy with that result, did not even bother to look at Stanford result, then at 4 pm, my daughter opened with no hope, the big surprise came, which we couldn’t believe even in our dreams. Everyone, pls have hope, you may hear the same surprise that we heard! All the best !!!
Got an interview at Stanford @ India.
@Suave123, did your daughter end up at Stanford? D didn’t apply to Berkeley, only to UCLA and USC (she loves LA), got into both, so no nervous teenager here, either.
Waitlisted for UMichagan. I got no hope for Stanford anymore but I have an opportunity to change the world now and it’s name is USC ?
