“Abbott explained that Stanford tends to reject a relatively high percentage of its early applicants and that deferrals to regular decision are reserved for highly qualified candidates.”

So, for those of us who have been deferred, don’t give up hope! We were in the top 38% of all early Stanford applicants, which should be taken as a great compliment! We are “highly qualified candidates,” at Stanford, so even if we don’t make it into Stanford come April, we should all still expect some other nice acceptances.

Don’t give up hope, but do put your heart in all your other applications, and you’ll have some nice choices in the spring with or without Stanford.

Yale dropped ~500, which was 13%. This year the numbers increased ~900, an increase of 36%. With numbers taken over two years, Yale early applications increased 20%. They “rebounded” much higher than where they were before.
