firebird12637 - 800M, 780V; 800x4 and then some 790s…

ok no way the actual applicant pool will be this competitive, actually it won’t be anywhere close to this! at least that’s what i hope

let’s do it out of 4000 now…i’m gonna add up all the current scores (and no doubt mine’s the lowest):

jellybean24 - 770, 730; 800, 760, 760 = 3820
paulhomework - 780, 700; 800, 760, 750 = 3790
aisforapple - 800 V, 740 M; 800, 780, 780 = 3900
StressedOutSenior- 770 V, 740 M, 800, 760, 740 = 3810
run4fun - 800 M, 720 V; 800, 800, 760 = 3880
bri- 760 M, 720 V; 800, 800, 740 = 3820
firebird12637 - 800M, 780V; 800x3 = 3980

haha, paul, i really hope it isn’t this competitive also. the ppl on here are insane

jellybean24 - 770, 730; 800, 760, 760 = 3820
paulhomework - 780, 700; 800, 760, 750 = 3790
aisforapple - 800 V, 740 M; 800, 780, 780 = 3900

run4fun - 800 M, 720 V; 800, 800, 760 = 3880
bri- 760 M, 720 V; 800, 800, 740 = 3820
firebird12637 - 800M, 780V; 800x3 = 3980
Raven001 - 790V, 740M; 800, 800, 770 = 3900

as a note, Firebird, your stats are incredible and humbling – are you the type of person that obsesses over the tests (like most of my friends, lol) or is it just naturally easy for ya?

While we’re talking about SAT scores, I have a theory: the best score you can get is a 1590. Schools (including Stanford) take pride in how many 1600s the reject, and so (by my theory), a 1590 is actually a bigger advantage in admissions.

What do you guys think?

You guys all trump me, crap i’m scared now.
780M, 700V; 770, 740, 730 = 3720.

Mine - 760M,720V; 800,790,730 = 3800

guys. dont worry too much about standardized testing. as long as we’re in the 3600+ area. We’re fine. Look, 700 x 5 = 3500. It looks like we’ll all get our tickets to the games here… its the recs, essays and ECs thats gonna get us the win.

oh yeah. the applicant pool is not gonna be ANYWHERE near as this competitive. dont worry about it. for example, most colleges only have a couple thousand people who get over 1400’s apply.(one example, look at P-ton stats from 2003. only something like 30% of the people who applied had 1400+)

I doubt SAT is more than a minor factor in admission, but I’ll drop myself on. I might note that “800x3” is a little misleading since those are all math and science…

jellybean24 - 770, 730; 800, 760, 760 = 3820

run4fun - 800 M, 720 V; 800, 800, 760 = 3880
bri- 760 M, 720 V; 800, 800, 740 = 3820

feuler - 800M, 790V, 800x3 = 3990

I’m sure it’s not the case, but I sure would like it if the “1590 is the best score” thing were true :).

jellybean24 - 770, 730; 800, 760, 760 = 3820

Knowing me, that 1600 thing WILL be true. Curses!

Wow, I’m new, and i’m SHOCKED. Why is everyone here so smart!!! Frightening…

700V (retaking), 800M, 800, 800, 750 = 3850

“as a note, Firebird, your stats are incredible and humbling – are you the type of person that obsesses over the tests (like most of my friends, lol) or is it just naturally easy for ya?”

Raven-
uh, i used to be hella obsessive back in the day of, like, sophomore year, especially for the SAT 1 verbal. but for the other stuff, i was only “moderately” obsessive cuz i was already very well prepped…(like feuler, most of my 800s come from math/science)…but no, it definitely does NOT come naturally to me…lots of hard work i guess…

800, 800; 800, 800, 790 = 3990

add me to the list

800 750 800 760 710

exact same stats as qvdp

800, 800; 800, 800, 790 = 3990
(never took a test more than once)

btw, qvdp, where in the bay area you? i live like 5 miles away from stanford too :-)

wow,
nice scores!!
just submitted my app, phew, 11:55 pm (PST)
anyways my scores are: 800, 800, 790, 650, 600

Wow. Good luck to all of you. I think it really won’t be this competitive - although it will be tough. These boards are self-selective. And I’m friends with a CA student (I’m from NC) where all of the 1600s at his school got rejected and other people got in. I don’t think the SAT matters as much as essays, recs, etc. as long as you’re above that 1400 or so threshold. So let us not worry!

My total : 3640

oh cool, the lowest so far + intl needing fin Aid, wow that makes me special :)

800m, 800 V, 800x3, 790
