any of you guys takin any CB tests on saturday??

i applied EA too…argh…i hate this waiting, and we still have a month left…i really really really want to get in but it is a huge crapshoot…good luck everybody!!! :)

i just reread my long essay (for EA), and i really feel they are crappy. My short ans are fabulous.

Do you think i should send in a revised essay, should i try?? coz there’s no way in hell i’m gettin in with that BS essay!!

I wouldn’t recommend it b/c they hate it when people send in extra stuff. It would give them a negative impression of you because you had the whole summer and fall to write a great essay. Don’t worry too much, a bad essay wont keep you out. Your short essays can compensate for it. People emphasize way too much on the essay. It’s not like a good essay will GET you in or an okayish essay will keep you out.

don’t send it…that would look very bad.

thanx for the advice ppl,

and best of luck for ur EA decisions

did anyone get their app confirmation??

over email, yes (they confirmed that they received pts 1 and 2)

yeah i got my little postcard back confirming they recieved everything. seems like mid-december is ages away.

is everyone supposed to receive confirmation about their app? I haven’t gotten anything, and I sent everything on October 23

Stop re-reading your essays!
You can’t change them now, so why fret over them? :D

“over email, yes (they confirmed that they received pts 1 and 2)” ok i got that too,

should i expect any snail mail??

u get the email confirmation only if u sent ur app online, its automatic.

im not sure what happens if u sent paper app.

(i sent part 1 online, got an email, then sent part 2 on paper around oct 25, no notification yet, dont think i’ll get one)

hey firebird, that’s pretty clever. my college counselor advised against mixing paper and online…are you planning to do part 1 online and part 2 paper for all your colleges?

I’m pretty sure I will do:
Duke will be all online; MIT + Caltech (and Stanford, obviously) mixed, everywhere else is all paper (see my ■■■■■■■ page).

So if we submitted all parts online, we will only receive the automatic confirmation (you receive it right when you submit)?

And then we get a notification in mid-November, right? Is this only if you have missing materials, or does everyone receive this notification?

I think MIT requires it to be all on line, or all paper (NOT mixed).

i wanted to do all of it online, but on part 2 the online pdf converter screwed up my essays, and since i had time i decided to just do it on paper.

Applied EA (from Cali)

SATs not bad but not as good as everyone else here…
Picture essay on chess
Wrote the short ones on Youth and Government, a Stats professor at Stanford, and the Millennium Problems.

Waiting for the envelope… I transition between being really pessimistic and overly optimistic about it every day.

Also, I was wondering about the snail mail confirmation too – coming Nov. 15?
