Hey guys, I am very interested in learning Chinese. I will be a sophomore next year and I want to take Chinese 1. I will be taking PSAT next fall and I expect a good score. Can I start the course in the middle of the year? I will apply once I get my PSAT score. Also, I will want to take the AP course senior year. I will either have to self-study Chinese 2 or 3, or take it over summer or something. Is this feasible? Also what is the work load. There is 3.5 hours of instruction, so I am wondering the amount of homework. Thanks, the website is not too specific about Chinese.

Your best bet would be to take a StarTalk residential Chinese course this summer. [STARTALK 2012 - Chinese Student Programs](http://startalk.umd.edu/programs/search?sort=name&year=2012&participant-type=student&language=Chinese) See if your state offers one or if there is one nearby that is still taking applications.
