Hello,
I am considering applying for Knight-Hennessy scholarship at Stanford. I understand that is is possible to be awarded the scholarship and not be accepted into the graduate program (and vice versa).
My question is: Does applying to the KHS affect (weaken or strengthen) the chances of being admitted to the grad program? So are they evaluated completely independently or does one bear on the other?
It is my understanding that application reviews start out simultaneous, and then once teh the grad/professional school prepares a list of potential acceptees, the scholarship program conducts mores detailed reviews.
(Hint: in other words, if interviewed for KH, grad school acceptance is ~90%.)
On the KH website it mentions “We can select you as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar only if a graduate program admits you to Stanford”. I guess I misunderstood this?
So if I understand this correctly, is the first screening for potential KH candidates done by the grad school before the applications are looked at in more detail?
Question: why does it matter in what order apps are reviewed? (you are over-thinking this.)
The KN is one of the most prestigious awards in the world, so you have to be stellar to be considered. If you are not accepted into the Stanford Grad/professional program, you will not be considered for KN. In other words, you have to get in first.
